About LYNKED

LYNKED is the Enterprise Operating System for Utility-Intensive Properties. Through two integrated layers — LYNKED Infrastructure, which brings together meters, gateways, and communications technology across water, gas, electrical, and thermal systems, and LYNKED Intelligence, the software layer that controls, manages, and operates that infrastructure — the platform transforms raw utility data into actionable intelligence for the properties and operators that rely on it.

The LYNKED platform supports more than 500,000 meters from LYNKED and other manufacturers across more than 3,500 buildings. LYNKED brings together decades of experience in metering, utility services, and operational technology.

Join a team that is building the infrastructure behind smarter, more efficient buildings.

Why Join Us?

  • Your firmware ships. At LYNKED, embedded work is product work. The code you write ends up inside devices deployed across real buildings. You'll see your contributions go from workbench to field, without waiting years for someone else to own the outcome.
  • A full-stack embedded environment. This isn't a single-layer role. You'll move between firmware in C/C++, Linux-based embedded platforms, communication protocols, and hardware troubleshooting — sometimes all in the same day. If you want breadth alongside depth, this is it.
  • Real compliance work, hands-on. MET Labs submissions, Measurement Canada requirements, device certification — this is specialized experience that most embedded developers never get close to. You'll support it directly and build a rare skill set as a result.
  • Small team, high visibility. You won't be ticket number 47 on a backlog. On a technically focused team, your contributions are noticed, attributed, and valued. When something breaks in the field, you're the person who fixes it — and when something ships, you'll know it was yours.
  • At the intersection of IoT, energy, and infrastructure. Smart metering and connected building systems are where physical infrastructure meets real-time data intelligence. It's technically rich territory — and LYNKED is building the platform that runs it.
  • A career path that's real. We're growing our team and our product surface. The role you're joining today has headroom — in scope, in responsibility, and in the Canadian and US market we're expanding into.

The Role

We are looking for an Embedded Developer to join our Innovation team. You will be working on the firmware and embedded software that runs inside our communication gateways and metering devices — the core of what LYNKED makes. This is hands-on, technical work with real product impact. You will collaborate closely with our software development, cloud operations, and product teams, and report to our Innovation Working Lead.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain firmware and embedded software for communication gateways, metering devices, and IoT hardware
  • Diagnose and resolve L3 escalations related to device behaviour, connectivity, and data transmission
  • Support hardware compliance and certification activities, including preparation for MET Labs submissions
  • Perform field service work including device flashing, re-programming, and in-field commissioning support
  • Manage and contribute to our Debian APT software package repository
  • Contribute to internal technical documentation and the knowledge base Wiki
  • Troubleshoot electronics and support prototype design and testing for new product development
  • Collaborate closely with the software development, cloud operations, and product teams to ensure end-to-end system reliability

What You Bring

  • Solid experience in embedded C or C++ development
  • Familiarity with Linux-based embedded environments (Debian experience is an asset)
  • Understanding of communication protocols used in metering or IoT contexts — DLMS/COSEM, Modbus, ZigBee, or similar
  • Comfort working across both software and hardware layers — you can read a schematic and debug a firmware issue in the same afternoon
  • Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts — you enjoy finding the root cause, not just the workaround
  • Post-secondary education in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience with metering products, smart building technology, or utility infrastructure
  • Familiarity with MET Labs or Measurement Canada certification processes
  • Web development and AWS experience
  • Field service or commissioning experience

Perks & Benefits

  • Salary: $50,000 – $55,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus an annual performance based increase
  • Health & Dental Benefits: Company-paid comprehensive health, dental, critical illness, and life insurance
  • Retirement Savings Program: Company-matched Group RRSP with employer contributions through a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP)
  • Professional Development: Tuition reimbursement and continuous learning support
  • Career Growth: Real advancement opportunity within a team and product surface that is actively expanding
  • Office Perks: Stocked snack bar, fresh coffee, and a collaborative in-office environment
  • Company Events: Team gatherings and social events throughout the year

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
