The posting

Drivetrain Engineer – Wind Power

Goldwind Denmark is looking for a Drivetrain Engineer to contribute to the development of wind turbine drivetrain systems. You will join an international engineering environment where colleagues in Denmark and China collaborate to improve turbine technology, reliability and competitiveness.

This opportunity suits you if you enjoy combining mechanical design with an understanding of the complete drivetrain. In a growing company with ambitious technology goals, you can influence new concepts and help turn them into practical solutions. You will apply your specialist expertise while broadening your understanding of drivetrain components and their interactions.

The role

You will develop and evaluate drivetrain concepts, balancing reliability, weight, cost and serviceability. Working with designers, analysis specialists and suppliers, you will translate system requirements and turbine loads into practical mechanical solutions.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing concepts for main shafts, bearing arrangements, housings, supporting structures and interfaces with gearboxes and generators.
  • Developing mechanical designs supported by calculations, CAD models and technical specifications.
  • Assessing load paths, stiffness, alignment, tolerances and component interactions alongside FEA specialists.
  • Comparing and improving solutions for performance, manufacturing, assembly and maintenance.
  • Providing technical input to colleagues in China during detailed design and participating in design reviews.
  • Collaborating with suppliers on component capabilities, design verification and testing.
  • Documenting recommendations, assumptions and design risks.

Your profile

You have a solid understanding of mechanical engineering and approach technical challenges in a structured, practical way. You can develop concepts independently, challenge assumptions constructively and involve other specialists when needed.

We expect you to have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Practical knowledge of drivetrain components such as shafts, bearings, housings, couplings or gearbox support arrangements.
  • A solid grounding in strength, fatigue, stiffness, materials and tolerances.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, engineering drawings and mechanical calculations, plus the ability to use simulation results to guide design decisions.
  • Good written and spoken English and the ability to collaborate across disciplines and cultures.

Experience with wind turbine drivetrains or comparable large rotating machinery is preferred. Experience with drivetrain dynamics, large cast or forged components, prototype testing or certification is an advantage.

What can you look forward to?

You will influence drivetrain concepts and contribute from concept development through validation. Collaboration with international engineering colleagues and specialist suppliers offers opportunities to deepen your expertise and explore new approaches.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
