The posting
Lyten is leading an industrial revolution through Lyten 3D Graphene™, a breakthrough supermaterial unlocking a new generation of products — from lithium–sulfur batteries and energy storage systems to concrete admixtures, lightweight composites, and next-generation sensors that are revolutionizing industries. Together, these innovations are making a massive global improvement and driving real-world impact across energy, mobility, construction, and defense.
At Lyten, we believe the most meaningful careers begin with purpose — and with people who want to make a difference. We’re not just developing advanced supermaterials — we’re about to change the world as we know it, reshaping how energy is stored, how products are built, and how progress is made.
We’re entering an exciting growth phase, scaling production across the U.S. and Europe and expanding our team of engineers, scientists, and innovators.
Apply now to join our team and be part of something bigger than yourself — where collaboration, creativity, and purpose come together to build the technologies that will define the next century.
The Senior Compliance Expert owns the certification and market-access programs for our battery energy storage products in Europe, North America and other target markets.
Data center and utility customers cannot deploy uncertified equipment, so certification sits on the critical path to revenue. The role ensures that compliance requirements are built into the product from concept, and that certifications are planned, tested and closed on time and first time right.
As the single point of contact towards certification bodies, notified bodies and test laboratories, the Senior Compliance Expert sets the certification strategy, drives the test campaigns and owns the compliance documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Own end-to-end certification programs for our products, from compliance strategy and test planning through test execution, issue closure and final certificates and listings.
- Identify and interpret the standards, directives and regulations required for target markets (e.g. UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 1973, IEC 62619, IEC 62933, IEC 62477-1, NFPA 855, CE directives, EU Battery Regulation) and translate them into clear product requirements.
- Lead the relationship with certification bodies, notified bodies and NRTLs (e.g. UL, TÜV, Intertek, DNV), including quotations, scheduling, witness testing and alignment on interpretations and test scope.
- Plan and coordinate certification test campaigns (safety, EMC, environmental, fire propagation and grid connection) together with engineering, validation and suppliers, ensuring samples, test setups and documentation are ready on time.
- Embed compliance into the product development process by reviewing designs at each gate, flagging non-conformities early and driving corrective actions with the engineering teams.
- Own the technical files and compliance documentation, including CB reports, declarations of conformity, CE technical files, critical components lists and EU Battery Regulation obligations (e.g. labelling, carbon footprint, battery passport).
- Manage the certification impact of design and supplier changes, including re-certification, variant listings and critical-component change control.
- Monitor upcoming changes in standards and regulations, assess their impact on the product roadmap and represent the company in relevant standardization committees.
- Support sales and customers with compliance questions, tender compliance matrices and documentation for site permitting and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Coach and mentor compliance engineers and define best practices, processes and tools for compliance work.
Requirements
- Qualifications and experienceMSc/BSc degree in a relevant technical field (e.g. EE, ME, Power Engineering). 8+ years of experience in product compliance, certification or homologation, including leading certification programs end to end. BESS, battery, power electronics, inverter or other electrical equipment industry experience preferred. Proven track record of obtaining product certifications for both EU and North American markets (e.g. CE, CB scheme, UL/CSA, NRTL listings). In-depth knowledge of battery and energy storage standards (e.g. UL 9540/9540A, UL 1973, IEC 62619, IEC 62933-5-2, IEC 62477-1, NFPA 855). Solid knowledge of EU legislation (e.g. LVD, EMC Directive, Machinery Regulation, EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542). Experience with EMC and grid-connection requirements (e.g. IEC 61000 series, EN 50549, UL 1741, IEEE 1547) is a plus. Hands-on experience working with notified bodies and test laboratories, including witness testing.
- Specific skillsExcellent English written and oral skills, Polish or Swedish is a plus. Ability to read and interpret standards and translate them into actionable design requirements. Strong project management skills to run several certification programs in parallel. Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. Jama, Polarion, DOORS) preferred. Passion for batteries, energy storage and new technologies.
