About Us

There’s something special about working for a company like Macquarie Telecom. We’re not the biggest in the industry, where you’re just a number. We’re not tiny enough that you’ve never heard of us. We’re in that sweet spot where we’re strong enough to punch above our weight. And we definitely do! Because of this, you have the opportunity to make a difference.

The Opportunity:

Join Macquarie Telecom’s Product & Engineering team as a Network & Security Engineer specialising in Fortinet platforms.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of critical network security infrastructure supporting our internal and customer services. You’ll work across a broad Fortinet portfolio, including FortiGate, Secure SD-WAN, FortiSwitch, FortiAP and FortiSASE, helping ensure our platforms remain secure, resilient and continually improving.

From complex troubleshooting and platform upgrades to security improvements and solution design, you’ll play a key role in maintaining high-performing environments and strengthening our operational capability.

Working closely with Engineering, Service Assurance, Service Delivery and customer technical teams, you’ll have the autonomy to solve challenging technical problems, drive continuous improvement and share your expertise to build a stronger engineering team.

What’s in it for you?

  • Own critical technology: Take technical ownership of shared network security infrastructure and Fortinet platforms.
  • Work across the Fortinet ecosystem: Apply your expertise across firewalls, SD-WAN, switching, wireless and secure access technologies.
  • Solve complex challenges: Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, platform improvements and technical escalations.
  • Make a lasting impact: Improve engineering standards, strengthen operational resilience and mentor fellow engineers.
  • Keep evolving: Work across a diverse technology environment where security, reliability and continuous improvement matter.

About You:

  • Experience managing and supporting production network security infrastructure in an ISP, managed services provider or large enterprise environment.
  • A methodical approach to troubleshooting, root cause analysis, risk assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Strong ownership of incidents, changes, upgrades and technical outcomes.
  • The ability to collaborate with technical teams, vendors and customers while communicating complex issues clearly.
  • A willingness to share knowledge, mentor others and build sustainable engineering capability.

Required Skills:

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on network security engineering experience.
  • Advanced FortiGate and next-generation firewall expertise, including firewall policies, IPsec VPNs, high availability and SD-WAN troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on administration of FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiAuthenticator (FAC), including logging, authentication, certificates and identity integrations.
  • Strong networking fundamentals across BGP, OSPF, IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, QoS and routing and switching.
  • Operational experience with FortiSwitch, FortiAP and FortiSASE.
  • Experience managing production infrastructure, security patching, firmware upgrades, change control, backup and recovery.
  • Strong technical documentation skills, including configuration records, operational runbooks and support procedures.
  • A degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Fortinet Certified Professional (NSE 7 or higher) in Network Security, SD-WAN and SASE, or equivalent demonstrable specialist expertise.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or practical experience with formal incident, problem and change management.

Desirable experience:

  • FortiPortal, SIEM/SOC integrations and security monitoring.
  • FortiSASE capabilities, including secure web gateway (SWG), zero-trust network access (ZTNA), CASB and secure private access.
  • Automation and configuration templates, including Jinja.
  • Multi-tenant managed security services and high-availability data centre environments.
  • Fortinet Certified Solution Specialist (FCSS) certification.

If you’re ready to take ownership of complex network security platforms and help build secure, resilient technology services, we’d love to hear from you.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
