Role Summary

Magnet Forensics is seeking a detail-oriented Trade Compliance Analyst to support the company's global trade compliance program. This is an entry-level to early-career position responsible for conducting daily compliance reviews and screening activities to ensure compliance with applicable export control, sanctions, and trade regulations, including the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

The successful candidate will perform Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews, restricted-party screening, sales opportunity reviews, end-user due diligence, and transaction monitoring activities. The position plays a critical role in helping the company identify potential export compliance risks before products, software, services, or technology are provided to customers, partners, vendors, or other third parties.

This role will work closely with the Legal, Compliance, Sales Operations, Finance, Customer Success, and Procurement teams and will escalate higher-risk matters to senior compliance personnel for further review. The analyst will be responsible for screening transaction parties using Descartes and ensuring appropriate documentation and records are maintained. Magnet's procedures require screening customers, vendors, banks, brokers, consignees, and other transaction participants against restricted party lists throughout the transaction lifecycle.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews of customers, resellers, distributors, partners, vendors, and other third parties.
  • Review customer ownership structures, corporate affiliations, beneficial ownership information, and geographic presence.
  • Assess customer-provided information for completeness and identify potential red flags.
  • Support enhanced due diligence investigations when elevated risks are identified.
  • Maintain accurate records of KYC reviews and associated compliance determinations.
  • Perform restricted-party screening using Descartes and other approved screening tools.
  • Screen customers, end users, vendors, financial institutions, intermediaries, resellers, distributors, and other transaction participants against applicable sanctions and restricted-party lists.
  • Review and resolve potential screening matches.
  • Coordinate escalation of possible sanctions or export-control concerns.
  • Ensure screening is conducted at required points throughout the transaction lifecycle, including new transactions, customer updates, renewals, and other triggering events.
  • Review sales opportunities and transactions for export control and sanctions compliance concerns.
  • Verify customer locations, end users, end uses, and transaction details.
  • Identify transactions involving elevated-risk countries, entities, government organizations, or industries.
  • Support review of reseller, distributor, and channel partner transactions.
  • Work with Sales Operations and Legal teams to resolve compliance-related questions before transactions proceed.
  • Support routine EAR and ITAR compliance activities.
  • Review requests involving international shipments, software access, demonstrations, evaluations, training, and customer engagements.
  • Assist with export authorization tracking and record maintenance.
  • Monitor compliance queues and ensure timely completion of required reviews.
  • Maintain trade compliance databases, logs, and other operational records.
  • Maintain organized records supporting compliance reviews and screening decisions.
  • Prepare routine metrics, reports, and dashboards relating to compliance activities.
  • Assist with internal audits and compliance assessments.
  • Support responses to internal and external information requests.
  • Help maintain compliance procedures, work instructions, and training materials.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, IT, and Legal teams.
  • Provide guidance regarding routine compliance procedures and screening requirements.
  • Escalate unusual, complex, or higher-risk transactions to senior compliance personnel.
  • Assist with employee training and awareness initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Relations, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Supply Chain, Finance, Law, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Experience in trade compliance, compliance operations, risk management, due diligence, investigations, legal operations, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Nice to have skills

  • Experience conducting customer due diligence, KYC reviews, sanctions screening, or compliance reviews.
  • Familiarity with EAR, ITAR, OFAC sanctions regulations, or other trade compliance frameworks.
  • Experience using Descartes, World-Check, Dow Jones, or similar screening tools.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, CRM systems, or case-management platforms.
  • Experience working in a legal, compliance, financial crime, risk, or regulatory environment.

Indicators of Success

We’re looking for someone who checks off most, but not all, of the boxes listed in “skills and experiences”. It’s more important to us to find candidates who can display indicators of success through skills they have developed and experiences they have been a part of, than to find folks who have “been there, done that”. We want to be part of your development journey, and we’ll learn as much from you as you learn from us.

How We Work

At Magnet Forensics, we take a hybrid-flexible approach to support your productivity and work-life balance. If you’re within a comfortable travel distance to one of our offices, you’ll occasionally join us in person. How often you’ll come in depends on your department and team needs, typically ranging from weekly to monthly. These in-person moments help us build stronger connections, spark new ideas, and celebrate our successes together. Most days, you can choose what works best for you, while staying in tune with your team’s goals.

We’re excited to welcome you to our team and look forward to achieving great things together - both in the office and wherever you work best!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
