About Maincode

Maincode makes Matilda, an Australian-made AI stack we own end to end, from tin to token. We own and operate our own infrastructure here in Australia, we train and maintain our own frontier models, and we run multiple surfaces on top of them, including chat, coding and API. Everything we ship is built on capability we control ourselves. We are hiring someone who cares about that. You should be passionate about Australian-made technology and AI, a relationship builder first, and keen to help Australian organisations adopt AI on their own terms.

The role

Matilda Enterprise gives organisations their own AI, trained on their own data, private to them, and kept secure and safe in Australia. Around it we are building a growing suite of products for governance, risk and compliance (GRC), model training, and cloud compute. Our customers trust us with sensitive data and important work, and that trust is built through long term relationships.

You will build and manage those relationships. You will work with CIOs, CISOs, and heads of data, risk, and compliance across enterprise and government. You will understand what they need and support them as they move from a first workload to wider use of Matilda across their organisation. This is a relationship role, and we are looking for someone who wants to stay with their customers for the long term.

Mainsail, our in-house sales platform built on Matilda, supports the team. It identifies buying signals, researches accounts and buying committees, drafts outreach, and prepares briefings before meetings. That leaves you more time to spend with customers.

This is a salaried role with no commission. We want you focused on what is right for each customer over the long term, rather than on closing deals by a particular date.

What you will do

- Build and manage long term relationships with a portfolio of enterprise and public sector customers, from first meeting through renewal and growth.

- Follow up on the opportunities Mainsail identifies, start the conversation, and develop them into lasting customer relationships.

- Understand each customer’s business, data, and regulatory obligations well enough to recommend the right mix of Matilda Enterprise, GRC, model training, and compute.

- Work with our engineers to scope deployments, whether in our own cloud in Australia, on premise, or in fully airgapped environments.

- Run a disciplined process on every account, with clear next steps, prompt follow up, and an accurate pipeline.

- Represent Maincode with customers and partners, and at industry events.

- Share customer feedback with our product and engineering teams.

What you will bring

- Experience selling platforms, such as SaaS, cloud, data, or security, into enterprise or government organisations.

- A track record of long term customer relationships, including customers who renewed and grew with you over several years.

- Discipline and consistency. You plan your week, follow up reliably, keep your pipeline current, and do what you said you would do.

- A strong work ethic and plenty of drive. You chase things down, make the extra call, and put in the preparation.

- A genuine interest in AI and in what we are building with Matilda. You use AI tools in your own work, you are comfortable working alongside AI agents, and you can explain clearly what private, custom AI means for an organisation.

- Clear, practical, and direct communication, both written and spoken.

Highly regarded

- Experience selling into Australian government, defence, financial services, health, or other regulated industries.

- Experience selling data platforms, cloud infrastructure, GRC, or cybersecurity products.

- An established network across Australian enterprise and the public sector.

- Experience at an early stage company, building customer relationships from scratch.

Eligibility

- Must have the right to work in Australia.

- Willingness to undergo background checks as required.

Details

- Location: Melbourne, VIC (or Hybrid/On-Site across Australia), with travel to customers as needed.

- Type: Full time, permanent.

- Remuneration: Competitive salary based on experience, plus super and equity. No commission.

Who thrives here

People who understand that enterprise AI is built on trust, and that trust takes time. If you care about Australian-made technology and you would rather spend your week with customers, following through on what you said you would do, than chasing quarter-end targets, you will do well here.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
