About The Role

Working Hours: 17.5 Hours Per Week

Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time

Working style: On-Site

Closing date: 11:59pm, 10 November 2026

Interview Method: Face to Face

As a Careers and Progression Advisor, you'll play a key role in helping adult learners take their next steps in learning, employment and career development. Through high-quality, impartial careers information, advice and guidance, you'll support learners to identify their goals, overcome barriers and make informed decisions about their future.

Working with learners from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who may face additional barriers to progression, you'll help improve access to opportunities and contribute to reducing inequalities across the city. Your work will support learners to progress into further learning, employment, volunteering and other positive destinations.

A typical week includes delivering one-to-one careers guidance appointments, facilitating group sessions and workshops, developing progression plans, making referrals to support services, and following up learners to track their progress. You'll also maintain accurate learner records and destination data to help measure impact and improve services.

The role works closely with tutors, curriculum teams, employers, partner organisations, employment support services and other stakeholders to create progression opportunities and ensure learners receive the support they need to succeed.

For queries about the role, please contact the hiring manager, Emma Langlois, at [email protected] to arrange a convenient time to discuss the role. This route is for vacancy-related enquiries only and should not be used to submit applications.

We have policies covering the secure handling of DBS information and the recruitment of ex-offenders, which are available on request. - If you have lived or worked abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years, or 12 months or more in the last 10 years (while aged 18 or over), please refer to GOV.UK guidance on obtaining overseas police checks or Certificates of Good Character.
  • Casual Car Documentation- The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
