Job Description

Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Doral Hotel Enterprises. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.

Aloft and Element Miami Doral are seeking an experienced, proactive, and hands-on Chief Engineer to oversee all engineering, maintenance, and facility operations, ensuring the property remains safe, fully operational, and compliant with Marriott International brand standards.

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for managing preventive maintenance programs, supervising engineering personnel, overseeing repairs and equipment performance, and ensuring the proper operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, fire safety, and other building systems.

The ideal candidate must possess strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize maintenance requests, coordinate with outside contractors, manage departmental expenses, and minimize equipment downtime.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining guest satisfaction, ensuring property safety, supporting Marriott quality assurance requirements, and protecting the hotel's physical assets through effective maintenance planning and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in hotel engineering, building maintenance, or facilities management, including supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience with Marriott International properties strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, elevators, and building maintenance.
  • Experience developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs and managing work orders.
  • Knowledge of fire safety systems, building codes, OSHA regulations, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and manage engineering and maintenance personnel.
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, and service providers while monitoring service quality and repair costs.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage departmental budgets, control maintenance expenses, and maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records.
  • Experience preparing properties for Marriott quality assurance inspections, safety audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Ability to respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and emergency calls as operational needs require.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred.

Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Health, dental, and vision insurance, subject to eligibility. Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays. Marriott employee travel discounts at participating properties. Professional growth and career advancement opportunities.

This company is an equal opportunity employer.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
