Job Description:

The Engineer, Quality Standards will lead development and implement detailed product and process quality standards in a wood cabinetry manufacturing company. The role creates, deploys, audits, and continuously improves standards, specifications, procedures, work instructions, training content, and audit records to ensure they are accurate, approved and current. Working across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and other business functions, this role supports site quality directors, AQP (Advanced Quality Planning) leaders and supplier quality in assessing process capabilities and design specifications. They also maintain effective change control plans, support audits and internal CTQ (critical to quality) certifications, and use data-driven problem solving to enforce best practice quality improvements at multiple manufacturing sites and supply chain functions.

This position has a preference for candidates based in Jasper, Indiana. Remote work may be considered for candidates located near a manufacturing facility. To support business needs, candidates must be available during standard core business hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish controlled process and product standards, specifications, procedures, work instructions and training content
  • Ensure engineering and quality changes are not implemented until affected documents, training, systems, and specifications have been updated and approved through the change-control process standards and approves FMEA’s
  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits (LPA’s) to verify accuracy, ownership, revision status and compliance of standards
  • Translate quality standards into clear requirements for standard work, procedures, work instructions, and other technical content; link standards into detailed training content
  • Support quality engineering initiatives, including process risk assessment, root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions
  • Monitor and audit calibration records for critical-to-quality (CTQ) devices and instruments to verify that records are current, complete, and compliant with applicable requirements.
  • Support internal (CTQ) job-role certification and audits by developing and maintaining training content, assessment materials, and qualification records for multiple manufacturing sites
  • Develop manufacturing-process and gauge repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) quality standards. Translate process control plans into documented best practices for the manufacturing environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, or a related technical field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in quality engineering, standards writing or quality systems. Experience in the wood-manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of quality tools required including Cpk, FMEA, LPA, MSA, GR&G, SPC along with their related software systems, Ex. Minitab
  • Strong technical writing, editing, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, standards, procedures, and regulatory or customer requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of root-cause analysis, corrective action, process risk-based thinking, and continuous improvement methods, with the ability to apply them to manufacturing issues.
  • Accuracy and disciplined execution of engineering standards projects
  • Ability to interpret process-capability data and translate findings into practical quality standards
  • Cross-functional collaboration and support of manufacturing sites
  • Ability to prioritize concurrent documentation, audit, certification, training and quality-improvement projects
  • Ability to travel as required (less than 25%)

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
