Job Description: Financial Crime Business Analyst

Expertise: Actimize | AML Transaction Monitoring | Sanctions Screening | UAT

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Financial Crime Business Analyst with a strong background in banking, Financial Crime Compliance (FCC), and NICE Actimize solutions to support AML transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, historical lookback, model validation and tuning, and platform optimization initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on functional and business analysis experience with NICE Actimize SAM (Suspicious Activity Monitoring) and WLF (Watch List Filtering), along with expertise in sanctions screening vendor feed integration, rule optimization, new data source onboarding, and end-to-end User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

This role will work closely with business, compliance, data, technology, model validation, and external vendor teams to translate regulatory and business requirements into effective system enhancements, improve alert quality, validate data and screening outcomes, and strengthen financial crime risk management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Analysis and Requirements Management

  • Engage with banking, AML, sanctions, and FCC stakeholders to gather business and functional requirements.
  • Assess existing financial crime processes and Actimize solutions to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and business rules.
  • Translate regulatory and business needs into actionable solution requirements and testable acceptance criteria.

2. NICE Actimize SAM, WLF and Sanctions Screening

  • Provide functional expertise in Actimize SAM, WLF, and sanctions screening workflows.
  • Assess and validate transaction monitoring scenarios, screening configurations, alert generation, investigation workflows, and case disposition processes.
  • Evaluate out-of-the-box (OOTB) scenarios and custom rules, recommending enhancements to improve detection effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Support rule configuration, parameter adjustments, threshold optimization, and testing of platform enhancements.

3. Sanctions Screening Vendor Feed Integration

  • Gather business and functional requirements for integrating sanctions screening feeds from external vendors and watchlist providers.
  • Assess vendor feed formats, data structures, field mappings, and ingestion requirements.
  • Validate watchlist data loading, field-level mapping, data completeness, screening coverage, matching logic, and alert generation.
  • Coordinate integration testing and UAT to ensure accurate processing of vendor data and expected screening outcomes.
  • Investigate feed-related issues and work with vendors and technology teams to resolve data and functional discrepancies.

4. Historical Lookback and Transaction Monitoring

  • Support historical transaction lookback initiatives, including scope definition, data assessment, lookback criteria, and scenario execution.
  • Analyze lookback results, reconcile transaction populations, investigate discrepancies, and document findings.
  • Assess transaction monitoring scenarios and identify opportunities to improve coverage and detection effectiveness.
  • Ensure lookback activities are supported by appropriate documentation, traceability, and business validation.

5. Model Validation, Scenario Tuning and Optimization

  • Support model and scenario validation, tuning, threshold optimization, and effectiveness assessments.
  • Analyze false-positive and false-negative trends, alert volumes, and scenario performance.
  • Evaluate existing OOTB and custom Actimize rules against business requirements, risk assessments, and regulatory expectations.
  • Recommend rule enhancements, parameter changes, and new scenarios to improve alert quality and risk coverage.
  • Collaborate with model risk management and independent validation teams to address findings and validate remediation outcomes.

6. New Data Source Onboarding and Data Quality

  • Gather business, functional, and data requirements for onboarding new sources into Actimize platforms.
  • Perform source-to-target mapping, field-level analysis, and data profiling.
  • Validate data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and suitability for transaction monitoring and sanctions screening.
  • Support data reconciliation, investigate mapping discrepancies, and coordinate resolution of data quality issues.
  • Document data requirements, mappings, validation rules, and integration dependencies.

7. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Defect Management

  • Develop UAT strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test cases aligned with business requirements and regulatory expectations.
  • Execute and coordinate testing for OOTB and custom rules, model tuning changes, historical lookback results, vendor feed integrations, and new data source onboarding.
  • Validate positive, negative, boundary, and exception scenarios across end-to-end business workflows.
  • Support System Integration Testing (SIT), UAT, regression testing, defect triage, retesting, and release validation.
  • Maintain test evidence, track test coverage, document defects, and coordinate resolution with business and technology teams.
  • Obtain formal business sign-off and support production readiness assessments.

8. Stakeholder, Vendor and Regulatory Coordination

  • Coordinate with compliance officers, business users, technology teams, data teams, external vendors, and validation stakeholders.
  • Communicate functional issues, testing progress, risks, dependencies, and remediation status.
  • Ensure proposed changes align with applicable AML and sanctions requirements, internal policies, audit expectations, and organizational risk appetite.
  • Maintain clear documentation to support governance, auditability, regulatory reviews, and operational readiness.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in banking, financial services, financial crime compliance, AML, or regulatory technology.
  • Strong understanding of AML transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, FCC processes, and financial crime risk management.
  • Demonstrated business analysis or functional experience with NICE Actimize SAM and WLF, including OOTB scenarios, custom rules, and screening workflows.
  • Experience integrating sanctions screening feeds from external vendors or watchlist providers, including requirements gathering, field mapping, feed validation, and screening outcome testing.
  • Understanding of sanctions data structures, watchlist ingestion, matching logic, screening configuration, and alert generation.
  • Experience supporting historical transaction lookback exercises, scenario assessments, and results analysis.
  • Knowledge of model validation, scenario tuning, threshold optimization, alert quality improvement, and false-positive analysis.
  • Experience gathering requirements and supporting new data source integrations into Actimize platforms.
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute UAT for Actimize implementations, enhancements, or optimization initiatives.
  • Strong experience developing test strategies, test cases, acceptance criteria, and end-to-end validation scenarios.
  • Experience with SIT, UAT, regression testing, defect management, test evidence, and business sign-off.
  • Familiarity with data mapping, data profiling, data quality analysis, and reconciliation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AML or sanctions remediation programs, regulatory commitments, audit findings, or compliance transformation initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data analysis, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with Actimize implementations, platform enhancements, rule optimization, or production remediation.
  • Experience integrating multiple sanctions screening vendor feeds into Actimize or other financial crime compliance platforms.
  • Exposure to model risk management, independent validation, internal audit, or regulatory examination teams.
  • CAMS or other relevant AML and financial crime certifications.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments and coordinating distributed business and technology teams.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
