Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer position is accountable for planning, developing, designing, and coordinating manufacturing improvements in assigned Small Packaging – Metal facilities. Specific accountabilities include: evaluating manufacturing processes to improve product quality, process efficiency, and machine reliability; improving workflow; validating implemented improvements; preparing manufacturing process documentation; and conducting failure analyses.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage activities of cost reduction projects – write AFE update reports.
  • Monitor and improve machine processes, develop work instructions, and train employees.
  • Improve OEE across the plant by using downtime tracking tools and creating Pareto charts of downtime events.
  • Experience with IIOT or Industry 4.0 to collect data with the latest technology of integrated downtime tracking tools.
  • Participate in implementing safety improvements.
  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs.
  • Assist in determining root causes and provide corrective action for customer product complaints.
  • Participate in projects that support reducing downtime and scrap.
  • Organize, plan, and commission new or modified production lines.
  • Investigate operational problems affecting production in a systematic and methodical manner.
  • Validate implemented manufacturing process improvements to ensure desired results and sustainability.
  • Develop appropriate manufacturing process documentation for integration into the company’s quality system.
  • Provide training to operators, supervisors, and managers on new or modified processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline; preferably manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial.
  • Recent Engineering graduate with 2 years’ or more experience in Engineering or Manufacturing functions.
  • Working knowledge of high-volume manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality improvement methods, including Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Desired attainment of nationally recognized certification in manufacturing engineering, such as AME or SME.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone or in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • SAP & Data Analysis (such as Minitab) experience is a plus.
