Job Description

The Advisor of Leadership & Talent Development is an opportunity for a collaborative talent professional who is passionate about strengthening leadership pipelines and succession planning at Mayo Clinic in support of the Bold. Forward vision and People Strategy. In this role, you will assess, design, develop, implement, and evaluate leadership and talent development solutions, with a primary emphasis on succession planning. You will recommend practical interventions, support complex talent processes, and collaborate across the organization to build world-class talent and leadership.

A pivotal emphasis of this role is contributing to and supporting succession planning across the enterprise. The Advisor will partner with Leadership & Talent Development colleagues, HR colleagues, and leaders to support high-touch succession processes, talent reviews and leadership-pipeline visibility. The role will help integrate leadership assessment information, talent data and future talent-platform capabilities into succession planning while building trusted relationships with stakeholders and ensuring solutions align with organizational priorities and future leadership needs.

Key responsibilities include contributing to and supporting enterprise and department-chair succession planning processes. Contribute to and support talent reviews, including preparation, follow-through, documentation, and continuous improvement of related processes. Contribute to and support leadership-pipeline and readiness reporting by organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating relevant talent information. Consult and collaborate with leaders, HR colleagues, and other stakeholders to identify needs, support decision-making, and deliver effective succession-planning solutions. Build trusted relationships in a high-touch environment and handle sensitive talent information with discretion and sound judgment. Apply leadership development, organization development and human resources knowledge to recommend interventions that address gaps and strengthen talent readiness. Serve as a program or project leader, aligning practices, tools, timelines, and stakeholder needs across sites and functions. Engage in broader Mayo Clinic projects and initiatives that support organizational priorities and an AI-enabled, skills-based, personalized and human-centered talent practice.

Must have authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee or asylee).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5+ years of professional experience in leadership development, talent management, succession planning, or human resources. Experience supporting complex programs, projects, or consultation engagements involving multiple stakeholders.

Required capabilities: Role model for Mayo Clinic values of quality, service, safety, and outcomes; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong analytical, consulting, project-management, and problem-solving skills; ability to build partnerships within teams and across departments; knowledge of talent development and succession-planning practices; ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously; proficiency working with talent data and presenting insights clearly; and sound judgment when working with confidential or sensitive information.

Additional qualifications:

Master’s degree in a related field is preferred. Relevant HR, talent management, succession planning, coaching or assessment certification is preferred. Healthcare experience and experience in internal or external consulting roles are desired. Experience with talent reviews, leadership assessments, talent systems, Oracle, data visualization or enterprise succession-planning processes is preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
