McElhanney Technical & Digital Innovation in Engineering ScholarshipIn recognition of the outstanding contributions of emerging digital leaders at McElhanney, this scholarship celebrates individuals who are advancing innovation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through technical innovation. It supports our commitment to fostering future-ready talent who demonstrate the vision, creativity, and technical skills to drive digital transformation. The ideal candidate has showcased a recent innovation or achievement that exemplifies the integration of digital solutions, such as automation, emerging technologies, or new digital business models, and is passionate about shaping a STEM career with McElhanney.  A selected recipient who is interested in completing a diploma or bachelor's education program in STEM (see applicable programs below) is awarded up to $5,000 to use towards tuition, textbooks, supplies, and living expenses (on-campus accommodations). In addition to the financial award, you will be offered a paid internship that aligns with your career plans and McElhanney’s hiring needs.  One recipient will be selected for this scholarship award, and we strongly encourage applications from students of all backgrounds, including but not limited to Indigenous Peoples, women, racialized groups, persons with disabilities, members of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and other equity-deserving groups.  McElhanney is committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion which celebrates the successes that come from a team diverse in expertise, experiences, and perspectives. In addition to the scholarship, candidates are encouraged to apply for opportunities to join McElhanney as either an intern or new graduate during our regular recruitment cycles (winter, summer, and fall), our internship communications at most post-secondary institutions, or as advertised on McElhanney’s website.  STEP 1: SELECT YOUR CAREER PATH Hands-on career training will be made available through full-time or internship opportunities, which are reserved for individuals who have an interest in one or more of the following career paths. In your application, please select your career path of interest (if you have more than one career path of interest, please rank them from most interested to least): 

Civil Engineering & Technology (BIM, Digital Twins, Engineering Software Solutions, Civil Design, etc.)   GIS / Geospatial (Analysis, Remote Sensing, LiDAR, UAV, Digital Mapping, Digital Twin Technologies, etc.)  Digital (Data Analytics, AI Applications, Software or Application Development, Digital Design, etc.) Other McElhanney STEM related field.

The career path you select should be aligned with the education program you are currently enrolled in. For more information on McElhanney services in these areas, visit: www.mcelhanney.com/services/   STEP 2: CONFIRM YOUR ELIGIBILITY To qualify for this scholarship, please ensure you meet the following criteria:   

You have a passion for innovation or have achieved digital excellence in STEM through: 

Adoption of digital solutions for innovative problem-solving.  Technical expertise in automating processes and integrations.  Implementation of digital tools to simplify and optimize operational tasks. 

You have displayed academic excellence through capstone or research projects, workshops/competitions, or continued involvement in industry. You are enrolled in a diploma or degree program and have completed at least 2 years of post-secondary education at an accredited Canadian institution that is in Civil Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, or GIS/Remote Sensing career paths. Are eligible to work in Canada for the intended duration of the offer/contract offered. 

STEP 3: APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS A complete application must be submitted on or before the application deadline and will include the following documents to receive consideration.  

An updated resume that summarizes your experience.    A personal statement of 1-2 pages that addresses the following questions:   

Describe the goal and results of an innovative project that you participated in. Provide details on how you approached the problem. (This could be a website, AI, an app, digital automation, modelling or analysis, etc.)   How do you see this project addressing any real-world problems facing the engineering industry? Why should you be selected as the recipient of this scholarship? How would this scholarship support your career plans? 

When answering these questions, you may wish to consider how your studies or future work in STEM will contribute to innovation in your chosen field and/or provide us with any other information you feel we should know about you that elevates your qualities as a candidate.The Perks

Financial Support: This scholarship offers up to $5,000 to use towards tuition, textbooks, supplies, and living expenses (on-campus accommodations). Mentorship Opportunity: Be paired up with an industry professional who will support you in achieving your professional goals. Together, you will discuss training, coaching, or career aspirations of interest to you. Internship Opportunity: You will be awarded a paid internship that aligns with your career plans and McElhanney’s hiring needs.
