The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Geomatics graduate or early-career professional to join McElhanney’s Energy and Resources group in Lloydminster, AB, with an anticipated start date of Summer 2027, or after graduation. This opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to be outdoors, on active project sites, and learning by doing alongside experienced surveying and geomatics professionals.

You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting energy, natural resources, facilities, regulatory, and construction-related geomatics projects. This is a field-heavy, physically active role that suits people who enjoy variety, travel, and responsibility early in their career.

To be successful in this role, you must be able to confirm all the following: You are based in Lloydminster, AB or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate. You hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License. You are eligible to drive for work, with a clean driving record. You are able to travel and work away for extended periods (2-3 weeks at at time).

What You’ll Do As part of our Geomatics team, you’ll:

Support the set-up, operation, and maintenance of survey equipment. Assist with the set‑up and operation of survey instruments under the direction of Party Chiefs or Field Supervisors. Work closely with survey teams to prepare files, maps, and data for project delivery. Research plans, titles, records, and other geospatial information. Place stakes, marks, control points, and assist with identifying or exposing utilities and survey monuments. Maintain, monitor, and report on the condition of survey equipment and vehicles. Work across urban sites, remote locations, and wilderness settings. Participate in McElhanney’s industry leading safety practices, ensuring teams Think Safe, Work Safe, and Get Home Safe. Expect early starts, active days, and plenty of time outdoors.

 What You’ll Bring

A diploma or technical education in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field. A genuine interest in field based, hands‑on work. Physical ability to work on active sites, varied terrain, and lift equipment. Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods in sometimes remote environments. Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and clear communication skills. Previous outdoor, field, construction, or labour experience is an asset.

What Can We Offer You?The salary range for this position is $56,000 - $77,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
