The posting

The Opportunity McElhanney is looking for an Intermediate Civil Engineer who is a team player to join our growing team. In this role, you'll work on meaningful projects that directly impact development across local communities while building strong, lasting relationships along the way. You're someone who is goal-oriented, thrives in a collaborative environment, and enjoys supporting and mentoring junior technical staff.  As part of our engineering team, you'll contribute to a wide range of municipal and infrastructure projects, delivering practical, sustainable solutions that make a real difference. You'll take an active role in project delivery and coordination, working closely with clients, project teams, and senior leaders to achieve successful outcomes while continuing to develop your technical and project management expertise.  You'll collaborate with a diverse network of professionals, including civil, transportation, water/wastewater, geotechnical, and structural engineers, as well as geomatics and environmental specialists. With access to expertise across our regional offices, you'll benefit from the resources and opportunities of a large, multidisciplinary firm, combined with the supportive, close-knit culture of a local team.  Location: This role reports to the Prince George office; however, the successful candidate may be based out of any McElhanney office within British Columbia. What You’ll Do

Provide detailed production of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for various civil projects including municipal utilities, roadworks, bridges and culverts, water and wastewater systems, and infrastructure upgrades.  Manage and coordinate projects from planning through completion, including client communication, budgeting, scheduling, and project coordination, with support from senior staff as required.  Work from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans, and project documentation using Civil 3D and other technical software as needed.  Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, construction cost estimates, tender documents, contracts, and project deliverables.  Assist with construction management and contract administration, including field reviews and safety leadership visits.  Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff.  Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained.  Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring

Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with 8+ years of relevant civil design experience.  Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PEng) with EGBC or eligibility for registration in British Columbia.  Experience coordinating and delivering engineering projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.  Experience mentoring junior engineers, EITs, or technical staff is considered an asset.  Strong client relationship, communication, and project coordination skills.  Proficiency with Civil 3D and related engineering software.  Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

What Can We Offer You? The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $140,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
