McGrath Acura of Downtown Chicago is seeking a skilled and dependable Accelerated Technician to join our award-winning service team. We are looking for a professional who takes pride in delivering quality workmanship, excels in preventative diagnostics and repairs, and is committed to providing an exceptional customer experience.

Job Description

Diagnose, test, and perform essential preventative maintenance while working directly alongside senior mentors. This position is specifically designed for individuals who want to bypass traditional, slow-moving career paths and rapidly master diagnostics through a blend of on the job experience and training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Routine Maintenance: Execute high-quality basic services including fluid changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, alignments, and multi-point safety checks.
  • Assist with Advanced Repairs: Work closely with senior technicians to shadow and assist on complex mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting.
  • Complete comprehensive multi-point vehicle inspections and communicate repair recommendations to service advisors.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance in accordance with Acura manufacturer standards, dealership policies, and safety procedures.
  • Accurately document repair orders while maintaining high-quality workmanship and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with service advisors, parts personnel, and fellow technicians to ensure efficient workflow and outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current with Acura technology, factory training, and ASE certifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • ASE certifications preferred.
  • Acura or Honda dealership experience is a plus.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently perform repairs.
  • Proficiency using factory diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and service information.
  • Strong attention to detail, productivity, and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced shop environment.
