About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced Minor Works Supervisor to join us following a new social housing contract win in Peterborough. This is a hands-on role, split between the office and site, where you’ll oversee the day-to-day delivery of minor works, repairs and maintenance across occupied homes, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

It’s a great opportunity to be involved from the early stages of a new contract, helping to establish and develop the service locally. You’ll supervise operatives and subcontractors across a range of works, making sure jobs are completed on time, residents receive a professional service and contractual targets are achieved.

Duties:

  • Oversee minor works to properties requiring structural repairs, fire damage reinstatement and associated remedial works, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Ensure works are completed safely, on time and to agreed quality standards
  • Carry out regular site visits to monitor progress, quality and resident satisfaction
  • Complete pre- and post-inspections, identifying any remedial works required and ensuring these are closed out promptly
  • Allocate operatives, subcontractors and resources effectively to meet workloads and contractual targets
  • Plan and manage daily workloads to maximise productivity and minimise disruption to residents
  • Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and contract requirements
  • Monitor the quality of completed works and address any issues or defects
  • Lead and support operatives, providing day-to-day supervision, guidance and coaching
  • Identify skills gaps and support training and development within the team
  • Apply HR policies relating to attendance, conduct and performance where required
  • Manage operational resources including vans, tools, PPE, materials and stock
  • Monitor materials usage and support effective cost control
  • Use repairs and maintenance systems to monitor job progress, productivity, performance and completion
  • Act as a point of contact for residents, resolving repair-related queries or concerns professionally and promptly
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to coordinate works effectively
  • Support contract mobilisation, audits and continuous improvement across the repairs service
  • Assist with cost control, forecasting and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Provide supervisory cover during periods of absence or increased workload
  • Attend toolbox talks, Health & Safety briefings, training and company meetings
  • Ensure all works are delivered professionally and in line with company values

Role Criteria:

  • Experience in a Minor Works Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor or similar role within social housing, repairs or property maintenance
  • Experience overseeing structural repairs, fire damage reinstatement and general minor works
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety, compliance and safe working practices within repairs and maintenance
  • Relevant City & Guilds or equivalent trade qualification
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience supervising multi-skilled operatives and subcontractors across a range of property repairs
  • Ability to inspect works, identify defects and ensure remedial works are completed to the required standard
  • Confident managing works within occupied and fire-damaged properties, with consideration for residents and property conditions
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple works and priorities
  • Practical problem-solving skills with a hands-on, results-focused approach
  • Able to make clear decisions and resolve issues effectively on site
  • Confident communicating with residents, internal teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders
  • IT literate with clear written and verbal communication skills

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
