The posting

About the Opportunity

An Australian-owned engineering company is expanding its marine operations into French Polynesia and is seeking two experienced Marine Mechanics to support the launch of a critical service hub in Papeete, Tahiti.

You'll begin by overhauling two large catamarans (150-foot and 60-foot), then transition into ongoing maintenance and mechanical support for a fleet of 100m+ luxury yachts and commercial vessels based throughout the region.

This is a 12-month contract with long-term and permanent opportunities for those wanting to live and work in Tahiti. If you're looking for a sea change, meaningful work, and a career-defining adventure this is it.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Conduct full rebuilds and recommissioning of two catamarans
  • Deliver mechanical servicing for luxury and commercial vessels across the region
  • Diagnose and repair diesel inboards, hydraulics, fuel, cooling and electrical systems
  • Travel to different marinas and moorings to complete on-site repairs
  • Work closely with vessel owners, captains, and crew many of whom speak French
  • Be available for emergency weekend callouts on a rotating schedule

What We're Looking For

  • Marine Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, or Heavy Equipment Technician with marine crossover
  • At least 5 years post-trade experience with strong mechanical diagnostics
  • Able to work autonomously and manage rebuild projects end-to-end
  • Effective communicator with patience and cultural awareness
  • French-speaking skills highly desirable
  • Must hold a valid passport and be prepared to relocate
  • Available to commence by late September 2025

Whats on Offer

  • $170,000 AUD salary + 12% super
  • Paid return flights to Tahiti
  • 2x return flights home each year
  • Private accommodation provided
  • $200 AUD weekly meal allowance
  • Company vehicle for work-related use
  • 4 weeks annual leave
  • 12-month initial contract with pathway to permanency

Why Tahiti?

Papeete is the capital of Tahitia stunning island in the South Pacific with a thriving marine culture, volcanic mountains, and turquoise lagoons. With little local mechanical support, this role is mission-critical. Youll be part of launching a long-overdue marine servicing presence in one of the worlds most beautiful locations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
