The posting

Summary:

A Project Manager at MediaNews Group is responsible for the flow of work through product development and acts as a servant leader and coach for an agile team. You will lead the team via agile practices, ensuring that the agreed-upon process is followed. You will also remove impediments and foster high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and constant improvement. In a larger project management context, you will be responsible for balancing the competing needs of scope, schedule, and cost, while uncovering and monitoring risks. Finally, the Project Manager keeps stakeholders apprised of the status of a project or ongoing product development and is highly visible throughout the organization.

We are looking for a confident leader who thrives in dynamic environments, embraces change, and enjoys solving complex problems. You will be running a scrum team and playing the role of project manager on a larger program as needed. The ideal candidate isn't afraid of deadlines, can assert themselves when necessary, and isn't shy about addressing tough issues when they arise. Everyone on our team is a hands-on contributor, so be ready to roll up your sleeves and make an impact.

Although this is a remote role, candidates must reside in CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, PA, or TX.

What you will do:

  • Apply agile and occasional waterfall methodologies and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices to initiatives from idea to launch and beyond, while ensuring alignment with SDLC standards and company strategy
  • Lead all aspects of the project, including planning, execution, timely delivery, functionality, quality, issue tracking, and communication
  • Maintain accountability for project delivery to the PMO, business owner, and stakeholders
  • Create initial project planning documentation, including assumptions/constraints, measures of success, quality measures, risks, mitigation plans, issues, dependencies, schedules, and change control strategy
  • Report progress, risks, and issues to management and project stakeholders; track risks, risk mitigation, known issues, change requests, and change impact in writing, and work to resolve blockers to completion
  • Use tracking tools to provide status and progress updates
  • Contribute to quarterly planning, Scrum of Scrums, all other agile ceremonies, and the project management community of practice
  • Lead by facilitation using standard scrum and scaled agile methodologies
  • Enforce the priorities of the work to be performed, as determined with the product owner, business owner, and project stakeholders; obtain product manager and client sign-off on key project deliverables
  • Conduct post-project reviews, lessons-learned discussions, and retrospectives
  • Draft and create project archives and process improvement plans based on lessons learned and retrospectives; implement approved plans
  • Add project documentation to the repository for use in future projects

What you will bring:

  • Project management platform familiarity (Jira, Trello, Asana, etc.)
  • Web technology platform knowledge preferred
  • Experience in digital media strongly preferred
  • Agile project management training and at least 2 years of experience
  • Previous project management experience
  • PMP or CSM certification preferred

Benefits and Compensation:

The salary range is $100,000 - $125,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility). Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
