A Day in the Life
The CNC Machining Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for advancing enterprise manufacturing capabilities through CNC machining, finishing, automation, and process technology strategies. This function partners across Manufacturing, Research and Development, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operating Units to standardize manufacturing technologies, improve operational performance, and support future capacity and product growth.
This position may be located in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Warsaw, Indiana; or Fort Worth, Texas. This role follows an onsite work model (4 days on-site, 1 day remote) and requires up to 20% travel to support collaboration, technology development, and manufacturing site engagement.
The CNC Machining Center of Excellence Strategy Leader defines and executes enterprise manufacturing technology strategies for CNC machining and finishing processes. This role leads technology roadmap development, manufacturing standardization, capability expansion, and deployment of advanced manufacturing technologies that improve quality, scalability, and operational performance across the manufacturing network.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the CNC Machining Center of Excellence strategy, capability development, and technology roadmap execution.
- Define enterprise manufacturing strategies for CNC machining and finishing technologies.
- Establish standards for equipment, tooling, materials, automation, process controls, and quality systems.
- Partner with Research and Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operating Units to align technology investments with business needs.
- Drive process optimization, yield improvement, defect reduction, and equipment enhancement initiatives across manufacturing sites.
- Evaluate emerging machining, finishing, and inspection technologies through collaboration with suppliers, industry partners, and academic institutions.
- Lead feasibility studies, proof-of-concept activities, and industrialization efforts for new manufacturing technologies.
- Ensure manufacturing technologies and processes support regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and scalable production.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of manufacturing, engineering, or advanced manufacturing experience OR advanced degree with 8+ years of manufacturing, engineering, or advanced manufacturing experience.
- Experience with CNC machining technologies in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience developing and deploying manufacturing processes, equipment, or production technologies.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Medtronic experience.
- Experience with CNC machining equipment, Swiss turning, milling, grinding, and machining center process development.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing.
- Experience machining titanium, stainless steel, cobalt-chromium, and tool steels.
- Experience developing manufacturing technology roadmaps and deploying new technologies into production.
- Experience influencing stakeholders across global organizations without direct authority.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$148,800.00 - $223,200.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
