The posting
Our MedTech manufacturing team produces precision-molded and assembled components. We are establishing Liquid SiliconeRubber (LSR) molding capability at our Singapore site. The LSR Engineer (Integration) will connect molding machines, dosing systems, molds, robots and related equipment into reliable production cells.
This role suits a hands-on equipment or controls engineer who can translate process needs into working equipment interfaces and operating sequences. You will work with the LSR Principal Engineer, Process Engineer, Automation/EOAT Engineer, equipment suppliers and cross-functional manufacturing teams.
Role Purpose
Develop and implement the integration of LSR molding cells, covering equipment compatibility, mechanical and electrical interfaces, pneumatic connections, controls, data exchange and commissioning. Ensure that connected equipment operates safely and consistently to the agreed process, quality, cycle time and maintainability requirements.
You will report to the ManufacturingEngineering Manager and coordinate integration activities across internal teamsand suppliers. The Integration Engineer owns the complete cell interfaces and sequence, using process requirements from the Process Engineer and mechanism and robot application inputs from the Automation/EOAT Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
LSR Equipment and Process Integration
· Translate product, process and capacity needs into user requirements specifications, cell layouts, cycle time budgets, interface requirements and equipment acceptance criteria before procurement.
· Review compatibility betweenthe molding machine, LSR metering and mixing system, mold heating and cooling, vacuum, cold runner controls, robots, inspection and pre-molding or post-molding stations.
· Define mechanical mounting, access, utilities, electrical and pneumatic connections, input/output lists, communication protocols, recipe management and traceability requirements.
· Develop and troubleshoot programmable logic controller (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI) logic, orreview supplier code within the agreed architecture. Verify machine and robot handshakes, timing, alarms and operating modes.
· Coordinate cell risk assessments and verify guarding, safety interfaces, interlocks and controlled recovery from faults, interrupted cycles or power loss with the responsible safety and engineering personnel.
· Verify mold closure and robot entry conditions, including robot clear, mold clear, insert presence, part removal confirmation and reject handling where applicable.
· Plan and execute factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), installation and integrated cycle trials. Resolve interface defects and close acceptance actions with equipment suppliers.
Validation Change Management and Risk Control
· Support equipment and process qualification with the Principal Engineer, Process Engineer and Quality. Prepare interface test protocols and evidence for IQ/OQ/PQ where required.
· Verify operating modes, alarms, interlocks, fault recovery and connected equipment functions against approved specifications. Document test results, deviations and corrective actions.
· Maintain as-built layouts, interface specifications, electrical and pneumatic documentation, software backups and approved configuration records.
· Assess changes to equipment, controls and interfaces for effects on safety, connected systems, product quality and validation. Implement approved changes through site change control.
Continuous Improvement and Operational Impact
· Analyze cell cycle time, alarm history, stoppages and recovery time to identify integration losses and improve uptime, changeovers and production flow.
· Coordinate handover to Production and Maintenance, including operating instructions, access controls, training, preventive maintenance requirements and critical spare parts.
· Standardize proven interfaces, test methods and commissioning lessons to support future product transfers and replication of production cells.
Compliance and Audit Support
· Perform integration activities in accordance with the site quality management system, ISO 13485 and applicable equipment safety, customer and regulatory requirements.
· Provide traceable specifications, test evidence and configuration records for audits, deviations, non conformances and corrective action investigations involving integrated equipment.
Customer Supplier and Stakeholder Coordination
· Coordinate design reviews and readiness checks with machine, dosing, tooling and automation suppliers. Track technical actions, dependencies, installation needs and unresolved interface issues.
· Provide clear status and technical recommendations to the Principal Engineer, Manager and project teams. Escalate acceptance, safety or schedule risks promptly.
Reporting and Analytics
· Track commissioning milestones, acceptance test results, outstanding defects, cell availability, cycle time andrecurring interface faults.
· Prepare integration reports, action lists and handover records showing test evidence, remaining risks, corrective action status and production readiness.
Qualifications
· Degree or Diploma in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Controls, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
· Minimum 3 years of hands-on equipment integration, controls or automation commissioning experience in injection molding or comparable automated manufacturing cells.
· Demonstrated ability to commission interconnected equipment and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and controls interface issues. Able to read schematics, pneumatic diagrams and cell layouts.
· Practical PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting skills on at least one industrial platform, with experiencein industrial networks, input/output checks, robot interfaces and machine sequencing.
· Experience with equipment risk assessments, interlocks, alarm handling, safe restart and acceptance testing. Able to prepare specifications, test protocols and technical handover records.
· Able to coordinate suppliers while remaining hands-on during installation and fault finding. Willing to support scheduled commissioning, supplier trials and production troubleshooting on site.
Preferred Attributes
· Experience integrating LSRmolding machines, dosing systems, cold runner controllers, vacuum systems and automated demolding equipment.
· Familiarity with molding machine and robot interfaces such as EUROMAP, and data connections such as OPCUA, industrial Ethernet or manufacturing execution systems.
· Experience with medical device manufacturing, cleanroom equipment, ISO 13485 documentation and equipment qualification.
· Experience establishing new production cells, coordinating multiple equipment suppliers or improving cell reliability after production ramp.
