Company Description

Mai te hiku ki te taurapa, whitikina e te rā

From the tail of the fish to the tail of the waka, shines the sun

This whakataukī speaks to our journey across Aotearoa, one waka, one purpose, powered by the natural forces that sustain us. Meridian is Aotearoa’s largest renewable electricity producer, generating energy from the winds of Tāwhirimātea, the waters of Tangaroa, and the warmth of Tama-nui-te-rā.

Together, our two brands, Meridian and Powershop retail electricity to more than 400,000 homes, businesses and farms across New Zealand. Now that’s a pretty impressive combo!

We’re committed to making energy cleaner and cheaper for Aotearoa New Zealand. Our retail structure uses empowered teams focused on delivering value to customers. The way we work is as important as the work itself, guided by our values and key behaviours: ‘Make people awesome’, ‘Set your compass on customers’, and ‘Progress over perfection’.

Job Description

Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing

We’re looking for a curious, adaptable Graduate Analyst to roll up their sleeves and support our Pricing, Revenue Assurance and Compliance teams on a six-month fixed-term basis. You’ll move between teams and workstreams as priorities change, gaining hands-on experience in analysis, day-to-day operations, assurance and improvement work. It’s a great first step into the energy industry, with opportunities to grow your technical skills and progressively take ownership of more complex activities. You’ll become a trusted source of support by delivering accurate work and adapting positively as priorities shift.

  • Support pricing updates, analyse customer impacts and help ensure accurate billing
  • Assist with revenue assurance checks, reconciliations and resolving issues
  • Support compliance monitoring, evidence gathering, reporting and regulatory work
  • Maintain accurate data, records, process documentation and business rules, and help implement and test pricing, system and process changes
  • Analyse data and communicate findings through clear reports, insights and recommendations
  • Identify ways to simplify and improve processes, with opportunities to help automate suitable tasks if you have automation skills
  • Build effective relationships and provide practical support across the teams as workloads and priorities change

Ngā painga ki a mātou | What we can offer

We value work/life balance, so our flexible work options (where possible) make things easier for you and your whānau. We also offer:

  • Enhanced KiwiSaver contributions
  • Excellent learning and development opportunities, we want you to be the best version of yourself and will help you get there!
  • Award winning wellbeing programme that provides support whenever and wherever you need it
  • Employee discounts off your power with Meridian, every bit counts
  • A one-off $400 payment to support your work from home set-up (if needed)

Ngā pukenga kei a koe mō tenei tūranga | What you’ll bring

  • Recently or nearly graduated with a degree in data science, mathematics, economics, data analytics, statistics, engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills, confidence working with data and a sharp eye for detail.
  • A good working knowledge of Excel will help you succeed in this role. Experience with SQL, SAS, Databricks, Power Automate, Power BI, R or Python would be a bonus, but we don’t expect you to know them all. If you have strong technical skills and are keen to learn, we encourage you to apply.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to share findings in a way others can understand.
  • A proactive, practical and collaborative approach, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and help out.
  • Curiosity and the ability to learn quickly, manage changing priorities and take ownership of your tasks.
  • A positive, upbeat outlook and enthusiasm for working with others, contributing to a supportive team and growing your technical skills.
  • An interest in the electricity sector, pricing, regulation or customer outcomes would be great, but isn’t essential.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
