The Role

As Head of Finance for MET Czech Republic, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and act as a trusted finance partner to the local CEO and business teams. The position is deliberately hands-on: it combines reliable financial operations and controls with budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis and practical support for commercial decisions.

You will coordinate closely with MET Group Finance, Treasury, Tax and other central functions, as well as external accounting, audit, tax and banking partners. The role is suited to a capable finance professional ready to step into a broader local leadership position without the full corporate scope of a CFO role.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Own accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for MET Czech Republic, in line with Group requirements and local statutory standards.
  • Coordinate the annual budget, rolling forecasts and business planning process, working closely with the CEO and relevant business stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear management information, variance analysis and financial insights to support operational and commercial decision-making.
  • Maintain an effective local control environment and ensure that payments, approvals and financial transactions follow Group policies and delegated authorities.
  • Monitor liquidity and cash flow, prepare short- and medium-term cash forecasts, and coordinate funding and banking topics with Group Treasury.
  • Coordinate local accounting, statutory accounts, audit activities, tax filings and other finance-related compliance requirements with internal and external experts.
  • Oversee VAT, corporate tax and relevant energy-sector tax or duty processes, ensuring timely and accurate information and submissions.
  • Support invoicing, receivables, credit control and KYC-related finance processes in cooperation with commercial and operational teams.
  • Coordinate financial guarantees and other finance documentation required for energy-market operations and commercial activities.
  • Guide and support the local finance resource(s), while working effectively with shared and Group-level finance functions.
  • Identify practical opportunities to simplify, standardize and digitalize finance processes.
  • Contribute to selected local projects and business cases with financial analysis and implementation support.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Approximately 4–5 years of relevant experience across financial controlling, reporting, accounting, audit or finance business partnering.
  • Experience in a Finance Manager, Senior Controller, Head of Controlling or similar role, with readiness to take broader ownership of a local finance function.
  • Practical knowledge of Czech accounting, statutory reporting and tax compliance requirements.
  • Experience in the energy sector, energy trading, utilities or another regulated and commercially dynamic industry is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Big Four audit or advisory environment is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Experience working in an international group or matrix organization is beneficial.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
  • ACCA, CPA or another relevant professional qualification is an advantage.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong financial reporting, controlling, budgeting and forecasting capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of Czech statutory accounting, VAT and corporate tax processes.
  • Good understanding of cash-flow management, internal controls and audit coordination.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP, consolidation, reporting or business-intelligence tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to translate financial data into concise and practical business recommendations.

Skills & Competencies

  • Hands-on, structured and dependable approach, with strong attention to detail.
  • Commercial mindset and confidence working with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ownership mentality, sound judgement and the ability to prioritize in a growing organization.
  • Clear communication style and willingness to challenge constructively.
  • Collaborative, pragmatic and improvement-oriented way of working.
  • Ability to balance operational execution with a broader view of business performance.

Languages

  • Fluent Czech is required.
  • Fluent English is required for regular cooperation across MET Group.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
