The posting

As a Battery System Engineer at Meta, you will take ownership of the battery pack electrical designs and their integrations to power the state-of-the-art devices developed by Reality Labs. You will work closely with our product engineering teams to define battery requirements, aiming to find optimal options for product volume, weight, and run time. Collaboration with safety, reliability, operations, software, and other cross-functional partners will be essential to integrate the battery into the final system and meet system-level performance metrics. You'll own the backend infrastructure behind our battery validation programs — the pipelines, automation, and analysis tooling that turn raw test data into system-level decisions

Responsibilities

  • Work with product groups to define and deliver battery packs as per the requirements
  • Work with vendors to develop battery packs per Meta’s requirements
  • Develop electrical and interconnect architectures for battery management systems
  • Develop engineering requirements and specifications, test and validate plans for the manufacturing and characterization of battery packs
  • Develop test boards and test fixtures to validate the performance of batteries
  • Design, build, and own data pipelines that ingest, normalize, and store battery test data from cyclers, thermal chambers, DAQ systems, and on-device logs
  • Build the validation data backend: schemas, databases, APIs, and services that make test results queryable and reproducible across programs
  • Support hardware integration related to interfacing hardware and connection issues
  • Identify system interactions and design factors which impact battery module performance, such as charge time affected by system thermals and battery age, interaction with accessories, and help substantiate product claims on battery runtimes
  • Perform battery gas gauge performance characterization at both module and system levels
  • Support software integration of batteries into the system for both functionality and performance
  • Travel domestically and internationally to suppliers and test labs as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent industry experience
  • 6+ years experience in working with of Li-ion battery pack design
  • Experience applying electrical/computer engineering fundamentals into product solutions
  • Experience with Python for data analysis and visualization, including libraries such as pandas and NumPy
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining data pipelines, backend services, or test-data management systems
  • Experience communicating with and working collaboratively with other hardware/software cross-functional team members
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational or time-series data stores

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with statistical tools, design of experiments and packages such as JMP or Minitab
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Masters or PhD in Electrical / Computer Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience with battery protection circuits, communication protocols such as I2C, UART, and charger interactions
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience presenting technical findings and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
