Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Set up and operate modern survey equipment used in performing field survey work.
- Record instrument readings using standard survey procedures.
- Calculate distances, locations and angles and related measurements using standard formulas and methods.
- Maintain field notes and draw diagrams for surveyor's review.
- Operate and stock survey vehicles.
- Maintain survey equipment.
- Clear brush from survey path.
- Transport equipment and instruments in the field.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisors.
Qualifications
Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years experience in sub-professional engineering and field survey work.
Desirable Knowledge, Skilis and Abilities:
- Good knowledge of the methods, techniques, and equipment used in field surveying work.
- Good knowledge of the computations used in field surveying and related work.
- Working skill in the operation and care of surveying instruments.
- Working skill in performing trigonometry computations of angles, areas, distances and traverses.
- Ability to work with total station, GPS receiver, data collectors and levels.
- Ability to follow special instructions and established procedures given by written and oral direction.
- Ability to assist in the training and supervision of subordinate field personnel.
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete engineering records and notes.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
- Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
- Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
- Employees of MSD must have a meets expectations.
