Job Description Summary
Responsible for maintaining Goggin Ice Center facilities and equipment by performing basic operations and facility support. Hours for this position are typically Tues - Sat, second shift with reasonable flexibility in support of facility events.
Job Description
Essential Duties
- Performs general maintenance repairs on facility components.
- Performs general ice making and maintenance tasks by operation of ice resurfacer and other related equipment.
- Monitors activities of the facility to ensure the smooth flow of operations and that all systems are fully functional.
- Assist in event setup and teardown
- Hours for this position are typically Tues - Sat second shift with reasonable flexibility in support of facility events.
Duties/Physical Demands:
- Performs basic ice making and maintenance tasks.
- Performs skate sharpening tasks.
- Performs basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Perform basic and specialized custodial tasks.
- Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
- Serves as an informal resource to student staff.
- Assist in setup for special events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing repair and maintenance
- Knowledge of mechanical repair
- Ability to read schematics
- Ability to complete on-going Certified Ice Technician training.
- Ability to complete on-going Certified Pool Operator training.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Continuous standing or walking, frequent climbing, and lifting of materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Somewhat disagreeable working conditions.
- Some exposure to several unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable.
