Fellowship Overview:

The France-Merrick Fellowship represents one of MICA’s most distinguished opportunities for student leadership in community engagement and socially

engaged art. France-Merrick Fellows (FMFs) serve as ambassadors of MICA’s commitment to the transformative power of art within the Baltimore community. Through their work, FMFs cultivate meaningful partnerships between MICA students and local organizations, leading thoughtful dialogue, facilitating collaborative projects, and fostering sustainable connections between campus and community.

As mentors to Community Site Leaders (CSLs), FMFs provide guidance, inspiration, and insight. They also advise the Community Art & Service Program and the Office of Mission Community Learning on strengthening MICA’s role in advancing socially engaged art and supporting artists who are dedicated to civic impact. France-Merrick Fellows exemplify leadership through action, leveraging MICA’s resources and their own artistic practice to empower creativity, collaboration, and community change.

These sessions will be self-directed but held in designated campus spaces such as the Office of Mission & Community Learning. Occasionally, this preparation time may be directed toward special CAS projects as assigned.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a mentor to assigned Community Site Leaders (CSLs) through both in-person meetings and electronic communication, offering guidance, encouragement, and professional insight.
  • Program and Event Support: Assist in the implementation of the annual Community Art + Service Exhibition and Festival, helping to showcase student and community collaborative projects.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Submit a comprehensive written report at the conclusion of the academic year, outlining project outcomes, accomplishments, challenges, and proposed next steps.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
