This Director-level role is responsible for overseeing the New Product Introduction (NPI) execution for advanced packaging technologies, driving cross-functional alignment across Process Engineering, Process Integration, MRDA, PCS, and Quality teams to ensure successful, on-time product qualification and transition to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM).

You will lead a team of engineers and managers, set the strategic & tactical direction for NPI activities, and engage with senior stakeholders across PDE, APTD, Global Quality, and Manufacturing to deliver Micron's technology roadmap commitments.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & NPI Execution

  • Set strategic direction and lead the PDE NPI team through all phases of New Product Introduction — ensuring systematic, repeatable, and on-schedule qualification into HVM.
  • Own the accountability for NPI execution plans, deliverables, and milestone achievement across all assigned products and technology nodes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with APTD, PDE, PSE, Global Quality (GQ), TSE, Site Manufacturing, and Central Planning to align NPI strategy, identify risks early, and drive resolution.
  • Serve as the key liaison between PDE and Global AT site teams, ensuring alignment on process transfers, tool readiness (TIQ), and qualification schedules.
  • Lead cross-functional reviews, Phase Gate Review (PGR) meetings, and executive-level program updates with clarity and data-driven recommendations.
  • Engage with external partners and business units as required to support customer sample delivery and qualification requirements.

Technical & Process Oversight

  • Oversee execution of NPI lots, data collection, process characterization, and yield ramp activities
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action / preventive action (CAPA) for NPI-related excursions and quality issues.
  • Ensure MRDA (Metro Real-time Defect Analysis) readiness, ADC setup/validation, sampling strategy, and inspection methodologies are established ahead of each phase gate.
  • Oversee POS (Process Objective Specification), VMP (Variability Monitoring Program), and DMP (Defectivity Monitor Program) deployment and execution.

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of engineers and managers across multiple disciplines within the PDE, Advance Technology NPI organization.
  • Set clear goals, manage performance, and foster a high-performance, inclusive culture aligned with Micron's core values.

  • Manage organizational structure, staffing levels, and resource allocation to meet business demands.
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1s, team meetings, and performance reviews to ensure accountability and continuous development.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and monitor NPI KPIs including MLY (Mechanical Line Yield), Process Cpk, Lot Disposition TAT, Phase Gate exit rates, and Defect Pareto closure.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement Programs (CIPs) to achieve yield targets, reduce scrap, and improve process capability across NPI runs.
  • Champion best-known method (BKM) documentation and cross-site knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure safety, regulatory, and ethical compliance across all team activities in accordance with Micron policies.

AI & Digital Transformation

  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and data analytics into NPI workflows to improve decision-making speed, yield prediction, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and scaling AI-enabled enhancements within the PDE Advance Packaging NPI scope.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, with a strong background in process engineering, NPI, or technology development.
  • 5+ years in a people leadership role (Manager or Director), with demonstrated success managing multi-functional engineering teams.
  • Deep understanding of backend/assembly semiconductor processes and NPI phase gate frameworks.
  • Proven track record of delivering NPI milestones on time in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Python, or equivalent).

Preferred

  • Experience with advanced packaging technologies (e.g., HBM, 3D stacking, wafer-on-wafer).
  • Experience working across global, cross-functional teams spanning multiple geographies.
  • Ability to influence and present to senior executives and cross-functional leaders.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
