The posting

Overview

The next decade of computing will be defined by a simple challenge: demand for compute will outpace supply.

As AI agents, Copilots, and intelligent services become foundational to every product, the traditional approaches to capacity management break down. Human-driven planning, static quotas, and manual scaling decisions cannot keep pace with the speed and complexity of modern cloud systems.

At Microsoft 365 Core, we are reimagining how hyperscale platforms operate in a world of constrained resources. Our vision is a future where intelligent systems continuously optimize infrastructure, dynamically allocate capacity, and help services scale up, scale down, and adapt in real time without requiring customers to become infrastructure experts.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the future of compute efficiency, workload elasticity, and intelligent capacity management for COSMIC, Microsoft's cloud-native platform powering some of the largest Microsoft 365 services and next-generation AI workloads.

This role is not about incremental improvements to existing infrastructure. It is about defining how millions of cores of compute are managed in an age of AI. You will shape the strategy for evictable compute, workload mobility, intelligent scaling, and agent-driven capacity optimization. You will partner across Microsoft 365 and Azure to build systems that maximize efficiency while ensuring critical services remain reliable, performant, and cost-effective.

If you are excited about solving some of the hardest infrastructure challenges in the industry and defining how intelligent platforms operate at hyperscale, we'd love to talk to you.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.

Responsibilities

The work in this role is wide-ranging and will involve:

  • Define the strategy for evictable compute and intelligent workload placement across one of the largest cloud platforms in the world.
  • Reimagine capacity management for the AI era, moving from human-driven decisions to agent-assisted and autonomous optimization systems.
  • Build platform capabilities that automatically scale, rebalance, migrate, and reclaim compute resources while minimizing customer effort.
  • Develop new operating models that maximize utilization of constrained infrastructure and unlock greater efficiency across Microsoft 365 workloads.
  • Partner with Azure, Microsoft 365, and others to turn capacity from a fixed constraint into a dynamic, software-defined resource.
  • Drive the long-term vision for autonomous platform operations where intelligent agents continuously optimize fleet and workload efficiency, cost, and scalability.
  • Influence senior leaders across Microsoft on the future of hyperscale infrastructure, capacity allocation, elasticity, and cloud efficiency.
  • Create experiences that allow customers to focus on their business outcomes while the platform intelligently manages the complexity of scaling.
  • Embody our Culture and Values

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
