Your role:
Structural Design and Analysis
- Lead the design and analysis of complex structural systems for buildings, homes, and other infrastructure projects.
- Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documents using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD,etc.
- Perform structural calculations and simulations to ensure the safety, stability, and durability of designs.
Project Leadership
- Oversee the structural design process from concept to completion, ensuring that designs meet project requirements and client expectations.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate structural designs with other project components.
Technical Expertise
- Provide expert advice on structural design issues, materials selection, and construction methods.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in structural design, materials, and building codes.
- Conduct peer reviews of structural designs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to best practices.
Quality Control and Assurance
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all structural designs and documents.
- Review and approve design drawings, calculations, and reports to ensure they meet project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Conduct site inspections and assessments to verify that construction aligns with the approved designs and to identify any potential issues.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure that all structural designs comply with local, state, and federal building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Prepare and submit all necessary documentation for permits and regulatory approvals.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and standards, updating designs and procedures as needed.
Mentorship and Team Development
- Mentor and train junior structural designers, guiding design principles, software usage, and best practices.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, encouraging professional growth and development within the design team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Risk Management
- Identify potential risks in structural designs and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement design modifications as needed to ensure structural integrity and safety.
- Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to address and resolve design-related risks.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Promote innovation in structural design by exploring and implementing new technologies, materials, and methods.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve design processes, efficiency, and quality.
- Participate in industry conferences, workshops, and training to stay at the forefront of structural design advancements.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare detailed design reports and presentations for internal review and client approval.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution. A Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in structural design, with a strong focus on commercial and residential projects. Wood frame construction experience is required.
- Proven track record of leading structural design projects from concept to completion, including experience in managing design teams.
Licensure and Certifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Structural Engineering or a related field is highly preferred.
- Certification in relevant structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro) is advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in structural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis, materials science, and construction methods.
- Familiarity with building codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, Eurocode, IBC) and the ability to apply them in design work.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other advanced structural analysis techniques.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively interacting with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
