Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Executive Housekeeper to lead the Housekeeping Department at Middletown Hotel Management. In this role, you will oversee daily housekeeping operations, maintain the highest standards of cleanliness across guest rooms and public areas, and develop a high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences. Responsibilities
- Train, schedule, evaluate, and direct all Housekeeping Department personnel
- Provide ongoing coaching, associate support, and disciplinary action as needed
- Maintain open communication between management and housekeeping associates
- Ensure associates have the tools and resources they need to perform their jobs effectively
- Inspect guest rooms, public corridors, and outlets daily to uphold quality assurance standards
- Direct the daily activities of housekeeping staff and ensure adherence to daily activity sheets
- Follow up to ensure routine projects are completed (e.g., carpet shampooing, wall washing, mattress rotation)
- Participate in monthly department meetings, weekly staff meetings, and supply inventory
- Order and requisition supplies; maintain a perpetual inventory of all supplies needed for department operations
- Maintain accurate records of all merchandise purchased and received to ensure proper invoicing
- Research and evaluate new products and methods to increase efficiency and productivity
- Report all maintenance problems within your areas of responsibility and follow up on repairs
- Ensure key issuance procedures are followed to maintain department security
- Maintain excellent communication with the Front Office to coordinate work with the daily arrival pattern
- Manage the hotel's lost and found department
- Prepare and approve the Housekeeping Department budget in conjunction with senior management
- Prepare weekly payroll forecasts and ensure budgeted goals are met or exceeded
- Ensure all accounting documentation and daily product control paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time
- Interview, hire, and onboard new personnel as needed
- Participate in performance reviews, job transfers, counseling sessions, and terminations
- Conduct ongoing associate performance evaluations throughout the year
- Develop and enforce performance standards, procedures, and safety rules for the department
- Conduct regularly scheduled training sessions on proper and safe work practices
- Conduct monthly formal safety inspections and follow up with corrective action
- Model the professional standards of Middletown Hotel Management at all times
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or management experience in hotel housekeeping or a related environment required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with computers and basic arithmetic for scheduling, budgeting, and ordering
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds individually; ability to assist in moving heavier loads with team support
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with varying temperatures
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
