Full-Stack Software Developer

Location: Wentzville, MO — full-time, on site Salary: $60,000–$65,000 per year, based on relevant skills and experience Schedule: Monday through Friday

Build software for the people who use it

Midtown Home Improvements is a family-owned home improvement company with more than 300 employees across five locations. Our small Technology Department builds the software our teams use to run the business every day.

We’re looking for someone who can build working software, enjoys solving practical problems, and already uses AI as part of their development workflow. You might be a developer looking for a smaller company, or you might work in IT and have developed strong software skills along the way. We care more about what you can do than the title you’ve held.

This role is 100% on site in Wentzville, Missouri. Applicants must already live within reasonable commuting distance. We are not considering remote or relocation candidates.

What you’ll do

  • Build and improve applications used by Midtown employees.
  • Work across interfaces, APIs, business logic, and databases.
  • Talk directly with users to understand problems and build useful solutions.
  • Investigate bugs and production issues, and test your fixes.
  • Use AI tools throughout development while reviewing and taking responsibility for the results.
  • Work with a small team and take ownership of the features you build.

How we work with AI

AI-assisted engineering is central to our team’s workflow. We use AI tools to explore approaches, write and change code, debug, test, document, and review our work.

We’re looking for someone who already uses AI regularly to build software. You should be able to explain how you use it on real projects, where it helps, where it falls short, and how you verify the work before shipping it.

What we’re looking for

You can build working software and explain how it works. You can trace a problem through an application, make a change, and check that the change solved the problem.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have built or substantially improved applications at work or independently.
  • Have experience with frontend development and some exposure to APIs and databases, or are ready to work across all three.
  • Can debug problems, ask useful questions, and learn unfamiliar tools.
  • Care about the people using the software and the quality of what you deliver.
  • Want meaningful responsibility on a small team.

A computer science degree, a specific number of years in a developer role, and experience with our exact stack are not required.

Our stack

Our current stack includes TypeScript, Vue 3, Nuxt, Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Redis, Tailwind CSS, Docker, Git, and AI-assisted development tools. Experience with other frameworks and SQL databases transfers well.

Why Midtown

  • $60,000–$65,000 annual salary
  • 100% employer-paid health insurance for the employee
  • 401(k) matching, paid time off, and paid holidays
  • Monday through Friday schedule, with no scheduled weekend work
  • Rare after-hours support: the team lead handles most issues that arise outside working hours
  • Annual international company trip
  • A small team with direct access to users and decision-makers
  • Software that people throughout the company rely on every day

How to apply

Send your resume and a short note about something you’ve built or improved. Tell us what you personally worked on, which AI tools you used and how, and how you checked that the finished work was correct. A GitHub profile or portfolio is welcome.

Midtown Home Improvements is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
