Job purpose
The Facilities and Yard Assistant (FYA) will work with the Facilities & Yard Manager (FYM) to address facilities maintenance needs and organize all storage yards. The FYA will also assist with picking up purchased tools, materials and supplies from local vendors and delivering them to the warehouse or projects. The FYA will be responsible for helping the FYM perform any tasks related to facilities maintenance and small tools/supplies procurement.
Duties and responsibilities
- Organize material in all MO storage yards to ensure that it is stored in a safe and orderly fashion.
- Assist drivers and field personnel with loading/unloading material in storage yards.
- Load and deliver smaller loads of material to projects using company pickup truck and trailer.
- Take inventory of materials & hardware in yards at the request of Field Operations Personnel.
- Assist Facilities & Yard Manager with weed/pest control and snow removal at all facilities & yards.
- Assist FYM with addressing facility maintenance needs as necessary.
- Assist FYM with picking up tools, materials & supplies from vendors.
- Attend and participate in Toolbox Talks and Safety Standdown meetings.
- Actively participate in all bridge demolition discussions.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- CDL preferred but not required; ability to obtain and maintain a CDL is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical labor in both indoor and outdoor environments through all seasons.
- Ability to operate or to be trained to operate a forklift, telehandler and skid loader in a safe manner.
- Ability to competently pull trailers with a pickup truck into and out of tight spaces.
- Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems, keeping all appropriate parties aware of issues or risks.
- Have a strong work ethic.

Other Functions
- Attend required safety training and other training sessions suggested by supervisor.
- Contact and coordinate with outside subcontractors and vendors as necessary.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working conditions
Outside environment, exposure to all weather conditions and temperature extremes. Site specific exposure to hazardous materials requiring proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Noise levels are site specific and may be subject to PPE.

- The position requires walking yard sites, climbing ladders, climbing stairs and walking on uneven ground.
- Position will require employee to spend a large portion of time on yard or project sites.
