Position Summary The Senior Counsel will act as a true generalist, advising on a broad spectrum of legal matters in support of Minaris’ CDMO, Testing and Viral Vector Business Units. This role will support Minaris’ business functions with timely and pragmatic legal advice, and will also support the Assistant General Counsel in managing day-to-day legal operations. This is an ideal initial in-house role for a law firm associate who is ready to roll up their sleeves and get hands-on involvement in a wide range of legal areas within a fast-paced organization with a small but experienced in-house legal team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Provide legal guidance across all business functions, including commercial, corporate, employment, IP, real estate, privacy and regulatory matters. Assist in the management of litigation, disputes, and investigations, including coordination with outside counsel. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements and other legal documents. Help Minaris Legal serve as a trusted partner to business leaders, balancing risk management with enabling growth. Assist in the creation and implementation of practical legal processes and risk management strategies to support business objectives. Supervise outside counsel to ensure cost-effective, high-quality legal services. Review and approve external-facing communications and materials, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and mitigating legal risk.

Knowledge, Skill & Ability

Strong business acumen with the ability to provide practical, solution-oriented legal advice with fast turn-around times. Excellent judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. Ability to handle multiple complex matters simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Proactive problem-solver with strong organizational and project management skills. Collaborative, flexible, and adaptable; able to manage an array of legal matters.

Education & Experience

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. 5+ years of legal experience, with at least 3 years at a leading law firm. Broad-based legal background with demonstrated experience in at least one of (1) litigation (incl. strategy and management) and/or (2) commercial contracting. Experience advising on regulated industries (e.g., life sciences) strongly preferred.

Working Environment

Hybrid – At least one member of the Legal Team is on-site in the Navy Yard most days of the week. The team is looking for a thought-partner who can be very hands-on. Not necessary to be on-site full-time, but “more often than not” (about 3x/week) is the expectation.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
