The posting

At MindWave, we’re not just building teams. We’re building a new way of working. We’re creating a community of experts who thrive in a transparent, human, and forward-thinking environment.

We are currently looking for a Security Engineer to join our community. In this role, you will ensure the reliable day-to-day operation of enterprise security solutions while actively contributing to projects that evolve and strengthen security infrastructure. You will work across core identity components, access management frameworks, and modern security toolsets in a mission-critical environment.

This is a hybrid role based in Brussels (easily accessible, near Central Station), offering flexible remote work up to 3 days per week with 2 days per week on-site.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

1. Security Operations & Infrastructure Defense:

  • Configuring, maintaining, and supporting enterprise security tools and defensive controls.
  • Monitoring security systems, enhancing observability, and defending environments against unauthorized access.
  • Managing application firewalls and securing web services.
  • Handling operational scripting and routine automation across Linux and/or Windows environments.

2. Identity & Access Management (IAM):

  • Managing identity components, user account provisioning, and access management architectures.
  • Providing technical expertise and implementation guidance on authentication protocols, specifically OAuth and OpenID Connect.
  • Administering directory services and identity solutions, including OpenLDAP and Active Directory (with Auth0 services as a plus).

3. Governance, Advisory & Security Culture:

  • Analyzing and defining technical security requirements, translating them into pragmatic solutions.
  • Developing security procedures, contributing to policy recommendations, and aligning workflows with SSDLC, RUP, and Agile methodologies.
  • Delivering technical security advice to cross-functional staff, managers, and leadership.
  • Driving security awareness initiatives and training employees on established procedures and best practices.

Requirements

Conformity & Qualification Criteria

You combine solid security engineering fundamentals with a pragmatic, quality-driven approach to IAM and infrastructure defense.

  • Experience & Methodologies: Proven experience as a Security Engineer operating within SSDLC, RUP, and Agile frameworks.
  • Authentication & Protocols: Strong, demonstrable understanding of modern authentication protocols and identity providers, specifically OAuth, OpenID Connect, OpenLDAP, and Active Directory.
  • IAM Expertise: Solid, practical knowledge of Identity and Access Management concepts, provisioning architectures, and access governance solutions.
  • Systems & Scripting: Practical scripting and troubleshooting skills in Linux and/or Windows operating environments.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in Dutch or French (with a good working command of the other), accompanied by a strong command of English, enabling seamless communication with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Work Arrangement: Willingness and eligibility to work in a hybrid setup (2 days/week on-site in Brussels, up to 3 days/week remote).
  • Compliance Note: Submission requires acceptance and signature of the standard candidate Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Key Technical Competencies & Evaluation Assets
  • Hands-on experience with application firewalls (WAF) and securing modern web service architectures.
  • Experience with Auth0 web services and modern identity SaaS platforms is considered a strong plus.
  • Solid background or previous experience in enterprise network security architecture is a plus.
  • Strong ability to translate complex security requirements into actionable implementation roadmaps. Soft Skills and the MindWave Mindset
  • At MindWave, we value people who are not only strong in what they do, but also in how they work with others.
  • You take ownership and feel comfortable working with a high level of autonomy. You don’t wait for perfect instructions before moving forward: you explore, challenge assumptions, and turn ideas into working solutions.
  • You combine thoroughness with pragmatism and communicate openly when you see opportunities, risks, or better ways of doing things. You enjoy collaborating across disciplines and can explain complex technical ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Curiosity is part of how you work. You’re interested in emerging security paradigms, AI possibilities, and modern infrastructure, eager to experiment and happy to share what you learn with the wider community.
  • Above all, you value transparency, trust, and human connection. Because at MindWave, we believe the best results come from strong experts who are given the freedom and support to do meaningful work.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
