Human Resources Assistant

Mission Community Hospital | San Fernando Valley, CA

Department: Human Resources Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: Day Shift

Position Summary

Mission Community Hospital, a 145-bed acute care hospital in the San Fernando Valley, is seeking a motivated and organized Human Resources Assistant to support the daily operations of the HR department.

The HR Assistant provides administrative support, maintains accurate employee records, assists with onboarding, recruitment, benefits, and employee inquiries, and works closely with Payroll, Accounting, and other departments to ensure efficient HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support, including filing, answering phones, and handling correspondence.
  • Respond to employee and management inquiries regarding benefits, certifications, leaves of absence, and HR policies.
  • Assist with onboarding, pre-employment paperwork, new hire packets, and orientation scheduling.
  • Maintain and update employee personnel files and records.
  • Assist with employee status, job title, benefits, and certification updates in ADP.
  • Coordinate with Payroll regarding personnel action forms, direct deposits, checks, and other documentation.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, candidate scheduling, and Quick Start appointments.
  • Track missing onboarding documents and follow up with employees.
  • Assist with tracking leaves of absence, workers' compensation, and benefits payments.
  • Prepare materials and provide support for hospital events, benefits fairs, and new hire orientations.
  • Create employee badges and assist with office supply inventory.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential HR matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of general office experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and strong attendance.
  • Fire Safety Card.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • Three years of Human Resources experience.
  • Experience with ADP or other HRIS systems.
