Key Mission of the Role

Own the business unit supply strategy and ensure the supply network is ready to support growth, product and technology roadmaps, and customer commitments for the Plasma, Reactive Gas, and Controls businesses. This role is accountable for defining business requirements, providing clear visibility to supply risks, and aligning Global Supply Chain and cross-functional leaders around timely, sustainable solutions.

A Day in Your Life at MKS

As the Director of Business Unit Supply Chain Strategy, you will serve as the senior supply chain leader embedded in the Plasma, Reactive Gas, and Controls businesses. Working through a matrixed organization, you will connect market demand, customer priorities, and product roadmaps with the capabilities of the global supply network and drive accountable plans before supply risks affect execution. You will partner with Global Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Product Management to develop strategic suppliers, strengthen capacity and continuity, and support new product introduction. You will also drive permanent resolution of recurring supply issues through clear ownership and sustained corrective action. You will establish the business review cadence for supply readiness, elevate decisions and risks requiring executive action, and track recovery and mitigation plans through sustained closure. In this role, you will report to the Vice President & General Manager of the Plasma, Reactive Gas, and Controls businesses.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Define the business unit supply strategy and drive its execution by translating market growth, customer commitments, and product and technology roadmaps into clear supply requirements.
  • Ensure recurring supply issues are resolved permanently by driving cross-functional root-cause analysis, corrective actions, clear ownership, and verification that solutions are sustained.
  • Identify critical supply gaps and capacity constraints early, assess their business impact, and align the appropriate functional owners around mitigation plans.
  • Drive the identification, qualification, and development of critical suppliers needed to increase capacity, reduce concentration risk, and strengthen supply continuity.
  • Drive cross-functional execution of customer approval and qualification requirements for new suppliers, materials, and supply changes, ensuring documentation, testing, and timelines support customer commitments.
  • Define business requirements and influence sourcing roadmaps for critical technologies and commodities, including the capabilities, geographic footprint, capacity, quality, and cost structure needed to support the business.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and suppliers on capacity expansion, capital requirements, readiness plans, and risk mitigation for anticipated demand growth.
  • Provide the business perspective in supplier selection, development, and performance reviews, particularly for suppliers that are critical to growth or continuity.
  • Support new product introduction and product roadmap execution by ensuring future supply requirements, manufacturability, scalability, and supplier readiness are addressed early.
  • Establish a focused business review cadence for strategic supply risks, recurring issues, supplier qualification, capacity readiness, and execution of the business unit supply strategy.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
