Grand Casinos Mille Lacs/Hinckley

Onboarding Specialist

DEPARTMENT:

Talent

REPORTS TO:

Talent Effectiveness Manager

Make Every First Day Count. Welcome Our Newest Associates.

Every Guest experience at Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley begins with an Associate who feels welcomed, prepared, and connected to our purpose. As the Onboarding Specialist, you will often be the first face our new Associates meet — leading the orientation and Guest Service training that sets the tone for their entire journey with us.

This is a part-time position working three (3) to four (4) days per week, with time at both Mille Lacs and Hinckley properties each week. You will facilitate all New Hire Orientation for our new Associates, deliver our ATC (Associates That Care) guest service training once a month or as needed, and partner with hiring managers, Strategic Partners, and the Talent team so every new Associate starts strong — informed, confident, and ready to create experiences that are Friendly, Effortless, Fun, and Memorable.

What You’ll Do

New Hire Orientation

  • Facilitate all New Hire Orientation sessions at Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley, delivering a consistent, engaging welcome to the organization, our values, and Mille Lacs Band culture.
  • Introduce new Associates to the information they need to start well — policies, expectations, dress code, parking, perks, benefits overview, and the resources and systems they will use in their first days.
  • Prepare orientation materials, rooms, equipment, and attendee rosters in advance of each session so every class runs smoothly at both properties.
  • Coordinate with presenters and partner departments who contribute to orientation, keeping the agenda on time and the experience consistent between properties.

ATC Training

  • Deliver ATC training once a month or as needed, equipping Associates with the service standards and behaviors that bring our Guest promise to life.
  • Schedule ATC sessions based on hiring volume and business need, and communicate dates and expectations to hiring managers and Associates.
  • Keep training content current and aligned with our Friendly, Effortless, Fun, and Memorable service standards.

Onboarding Coordination & Records

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for new Associates and hiring managers on orientation and training schedules, logistics, and questions.
  • Track attendance and completion for orientation and ATC training, keeping training records accurate and up to date in Workday and following up on missed or incomplete sessions.
  • Support new Associate documentation and data accuracy in internal HRIS systems, maintaining a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Provide reporting on orientation and training attendance, completion, and feedback to the Talent team and leadership.

Continuous Improvement

  • Gather feedback from new Associates and leaders, and recommend improvements to orientation content, delivery, and the overall onboarding experience.
  • Partner with the Talent team to keep training materials aligned with current policies, SOPs, and brand standards.
  • Participate in special projects and complete other duties as requested or assigned.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED required. A degree in Human Resources, Education, Communications, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating, training, or presenting to groups, whether at work, in school, or in community or volunteer settings. A genuine enthusiasm for helping others learn and succeed matters as much as years of experience; we will support your continued growth as a facilitator.
  • Confident presenter and facilitator who can engage groups of varying sizes, backgrounds, and experience levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening, and the ability to communicate professionally with Associates and leaders at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage schedules, materials, and priorities across two properties.
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance, troubleshoot issues, and make sound decisions in the moment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Workday or other HRIS platforms preferred.
  • Must be able to secure and maintain a license from the Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).
  • Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR’s).
  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

Success Measures

Success in this role will be demonstrated through:

  • New Hire Orientation delivered on schedule at both properties, so new Associates start their roles prepared and informed.
  • ATC training delivered monthly or as needed, with timely completion by new Associates.
  • Positive feedback from new Associates and hiring managers on the orientation and training experience.
  • Accurate, timely attendance and completion records for all orientation and training sessions.
  • Orientation and training content that stays current and consistent across both properties.
  • Strong partnerships with hiring managers, Strategic Partners, and the Talent team.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Part-time position scheduled three (3) to four (4) days per week, based on orientation and training schedules.
  • Supports both Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley; regular travel between properties is required each week.
  • Work is performed in training rooms, office settings, and property environments, and requires standing and presenting for extended periods as well as setting up and moving training materials and equipment.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to support hiring volume and business needs, which may include occasional early, evening, or weekend sessions.
  • Exposure to varying noise levels and operational environments throughout the properties.

What You’ll Get

Support + Benefits

  • Competitive pay
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with match, tuition reimbursement, and paid parental leave
  • PTO that’s used and encouraged
  • Recognition for birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones

Culture + Legacy

  • A supportive team environment focused on learning and development
  • A culture rooted in Mille Lacs Band values: Wisdom, Love, Respect, Truth, Humility, Bravery, and Honesty
  • Supportive leadership and cross-functional partnerships throughout the enterprise
  • Every Associate plays a role in creating experiences that are Friendly, Effortless, Fun, and Memorable for our Guests and one another.
  • Friendly – We welcome every Guest and Associate with warmth, respect, and genuine hospitality.
  • Effortless – We make it easy by removing obstacles, communicating clearly, and taking ownership to deliver seamless experiences.
  • Fun – We bring positive energy, enthusiasm, and a spirit of entertainment that makes every visit enjoyable.
  • Memorable – We create meaningful moments that Guests remember and Associates are proud to be part of.

Every role contributes to bringing this promise to life through daily actions, teamwork, and a commitment to exceptional service.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
