Job description

mobile.de is Germany’s largest vehicle marketplace, with more than 1.6 million listed cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and e-bikes (annual average 2025). Both private customers and registered vehicle dealers use the platform and benefit from more than 140 million visits per month*. As a “one-stop shop,” mobile.de’s offering includes not only buying and selling, but also financing and leasing solutions. Founded in 1996, the company is a subsidiary of Adevinta, a global leader in online classified portals.Based in Berlin-Charlottenburg, we offer a dynamic environment where growth, learning, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.If you are driven by an eagerness to disrupt, have a passion for collaboration, and are excited about shaping the future of mobility, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate new team member to join us as a Senior Legal Counsel (d/f/m).

In this role, you will serve as a trusted legal partner to our business, product, and tech teams - advising on a wide range of legal matters, from commercial contracts and product compliance to IT law and digital regulation. You will help the organisation move quickly without sacrificing legal rigour, translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance.

This is a hybrid position based in Berlin, Charlottenburg, offering flexibility to work both in-office and from home. What We're Looking For

  • Experience: Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist:in) with 5+ years post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house role, ideally in a digital or tech-driven environment

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience with product compliance
  • A specialization or LL.M. in IT law, IP law, or unfair competition law
  • Exposure to M&A transactions or post-merger integrations
  • Legal Knowledge: Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: IT law, data protection, e-commerce, unfair competition law, or commercial contracts
  • Product Mindset: You genuinely enjoy understanding how digital products and platform businesses work — not just the legal side of them
  • Contract Expertise: Proven ability to independently review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements including platform terms, cooperation agreements, and supplier contracts
  • Languages: Full professional proficiency in both German and English, written and spoken
  • Communication: Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance with a high level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
  • Adaptability: Comfortable operating in a fast-moving digital environment where regulatory requirements and business priorities evolve rapidly
  • Legal Tech: You're comfortable working with legal tech and AI-assisted legal tools, including legal prompting with large language models

You will be a trusted legal voice across the organisation — shaping how we build, what we launch, and how we grow responsibly.

Your Key Responsibilities:

1. Day-to-Day Legal Advice to the Business

  • Provide timely, practical legal advice to internal stakeholders across Product & Technology, Marketing, Sales, and HR on a broad range of legal topics
  • Act as the first point of contact for legal questions arising from daily business operations
  • Advise on digital regulations including DSA, AI Act, Digital Fairness Act, GDPR, consumer rights, and unfair competition law — translating legal requirements into practical guidance

2. Contract Review and Negotiation

  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts — cooperation agreements, platform terms, and supplier contracts
  • Ensure all agreements comply with applicable regulations and mobile.de's internal standards

3. Product Compliance

  • Contribute to product reviews in close collaboration with Product and Tech, identifying and addressing legal risks early in the development process
  • Embed legal awareness into the product lifecycle, supporting teams in building compliant products from the ground up

4. Regulatory Monitoring and Risk Management

  • Monitor the German and EU regulatory landscape and flag emerging risks to the relevant stakeholders
  • Support the coordination of cross-functional initiatives across Finance, HR, Tax, Privacy, and InfoSec

5. External Counsel and M&A Support

  • Manage external counsel where specialist input is needed
  • Support M&A and integration workstreams where they arise

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
