Who We Are (Mode.Inc)

Mode is a fast-growing technology company building businesses at the intersection of AI, data, mobile apps, and digital experiences. Our portfolio of mobile apps and digital products reaches 100M+ monthly active users across a global audience. We continue to accelerate growth through product innovation, strategic acquisitions, and emerging business opportunities.

Mode was recognized by Deloitte as the #1 fastest-growing software company in North America on the 2023 Technology Fast 500. Today, we are building our next phase of growth, including expanding Mode's AI and data business and developing direct relationships with companies that can benefit from the data and capabilities we have built.

Our Team and Culture Drive Our Success

Our team is the heart of our culture. We value innovation, collaboration, and curiosity, with a passion for getting things done. We strive to hire and cultivate the best team members and foster a culture of open communication and transparency. We are driven and hard-working but also committed to having fun along the way. We allow OKRs to guide us, assume positive intent, sometimes agree to disagree and commit, honor our commitments, seek to accomplish more with less, and encourage everyone to speak up as our team owns our company’s success.

You can read more about our team and how we work here.

The Role

Mode is looking for an all-star Senior Product Manager to join our Product-led organization and build great software that users love. At the outset, you will be responsible for multiple products in the utility space (including AppLock Pro, AppLock Lite, and Gallery) as well as an in-development AI-based rewarded app. You will lead your own cross-functional team, and partner with key stakeholders (monetization, design, UA to develop and execute a product strategy and roadmap that helps achieve our organizational goals.

Monetization is the center of the work, not an afterthought. Apps may monetize through subscriptions, ads, affiliate offers, or a blend of multiple methods, and are tuned to the audience and the market rather than copied from a template. As an organization, we are also investing heavily in data monetization, where users are compensated for data they choose to share, and you will own how that is offered, consented to, and valued.

As the organization continues to grow and acquire additional properties, your ownership areas may change.

You will report to the Director of Product.

Who You Are and What You’ll Do

  • You are comfortable owning several products at once, moving between them without losing the thread on any of them, and being honest with yourself about where your attention is actually going.
  • You have experience developing and bringing new products to market as well as working with growing or mature products. You understand the goals of each stage of a product’s lifecycle and can focus the team on the required strategy.
  • You have broad monetization experience in both in-app advertising and subscription-based products. You know when a paywall is costing more in ad revenue than it brings in, and you know how to test your way to the right mix for a given audience.
  • You know how to maximize LTV and balance the tension of retention and monetization.
  • You can deftly balance user and business needs, maximizing both business value and user experience.
  • There is no task you are not willing and able to take on; scrappy and resourceful are two adjectives you use to describe yourself.
  • You use AI agents as a force multiplier rather than a talking point. You build your own prototypes, pull your own data, draft your own specs, run your own competitive research, and automate the recurring analysis that would otherwise eat your week. A portfolio this size only works if everyone on it operates well above what their headcount suggests.
  • You are a self starter and thrive in ambiguity. You may not have the answers, but you know how to ask questions and take the first step. You don't get stuck in first gear.
  • You rely on all forms of insight to identify problems and opportunity areas: business metrics, qualitative and quantitative data, competitive analysis, leadership and stakeholder feedback.
  • You can confidently say "no" or "not yet" and "here's why." You can prioritize based on alignment to goals, impact, risk, complexity and effort.
  • You are an expert communicator, no matter the audience or medium. Whether you are presenting in front of the entire company, having a one on one with the CEO or discussing initiatives with your squad, you are clear, specific, and brief. “I don’t know but I will find out” is an answer you’re comfortable giving.
  • You value learning directly from users about what matters to them and developing solutions to their problems.
  • You’re able to expertly own the entirety of the product lifecycle: from discovery, validation, experimentation, continuous delivery, and measurement.
  • You can work closely with UX Designers to develop solutions that are thoughtful, intuitive, and helpful.
  • You work collaboratively with your engineering team to define detailed product epics and stories supporting delivering on objectives as measured by key results.
  • You deliver on your goals. You are responsible and accountable for your actions and decisions, and you take ownership of the outcomes.

What You Bring to the Team

  • 5+ years of professional product management experience, creating and executing on strategy, making critically important business and product decisions in an agile environment, delivering mobile applications to end-users.
  • 3+ years of experience owning a product discovery process from idea to validation experimentation to launch.
  • Comfort operating a portfolio rather than a single product, including allocating your own time across apps and - when needed - sunsetting the ones that are not earning their keep.
  • Experience building and launching new products from scratch.
  • Strong expertise in monetization models, including IAA, IAP, subscriptions and hybrid models. Familiarity with AppLovin MAX, AdMob, RevenueCat, Superwall or comparable platforms. Experience running subscriptions and advertising together in the same product is a significant advantage.
  • Experience with products that compensate users for their data or attention, or with consent flows and the privacy and store policy requirements that come with them is a major plus.
  • Experience building and scaling native Android and iOS applications.
  • Experience in in-app currencies and reward-based applications is extremely valuable.
  • Experience utilizing data analysis and experimentation tools: Mixpanel, Firebase, and an MMP such as Singular or Adjust.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional disciplines.
  • Strong use of analytics, user research, and business cases to drive decisions and improve products.
  • Strong understanding of system design. Bonus points for familiarity with AWS, Rails, Node.js, and data storage.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
  • Alignment with our core values:
  • Accountable: You take ownership of your responsibilities, demonstrating trustworthiness and self-discipline. You are consistent in your work, transparent in your actions, and communicate effectively. You follow through on commitments and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Action-driven: Identify what is most important, agree on scope, execute in a timely manner, and drive the greatest impact. You take initiative, roll up your sleeves, and get things done.
  • Caring: You genuinely care about yourself and others, our business and craft, our mission and vision, and are passionate in heart and mind. You understand the importance of our team and strive to create a positive, supportive work environment.
  • Curious: You focus on the ‘why,’ learn and expand your knowledge, explore new ideas, and generally make things better. You're a lifelong learner with a thirst for knowledge and a constant desire to improve.
  • Thorough: Your work is thoughtful, impactful, timely, accurate, and complete. You pay attention to detail, are meticulous, and ensure quality work and compliance.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
