The Role This is a full-time co-op opportunity in Norwood, MA from January 18, 2027 – June 25, 2027. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the assigned co-op term.

The CMC Operations organization is seeking a highly analytical and collaborative co-op to support data-driven strategic operations and operational excellence across manufacturing, supply chain, and product value streams. The successful candidate will work on high-impact projects that establish / improve performance visibility, strengthen operational and resource planning, identify risks and dependencies, and translate analysis into actions and decisions for leadership. Project emphasis will vary by organization: some assignments will center on hands-on continuous improvement using Lean, DMAIC, value-stream mapping, root-cause analysis, and kaizen; others will focus more heavily on integrated analytics, scenario planning, optimization, predictive insights, and future-state operating models, with selected assignments adding a stronger emphasis on AI-enabled innovation and Generative AI. Across assignments, the co-op will help improve tactical execution, productivity, cost, quality, service, and scalability while contributing to long-term manufacturing and network strategy.

This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Support strategic initiatives by integrating and analyzing operational performance data and helping align priorities and improvement efforts with Moderna’s long-term manufacturing, supply chain, and network strategy.
  • Establish performance visibility by developing and refining KPIs, dashboards, automated reports, and decision-support tools that enhance productivity, transparency, and proactive risk management.
  • Support operational, resource, workforce, and operating-model planning through scenario analysis and productivity insights; identify risks, dependencies, and constraints and translate findings into clear actions and decisions.
  • Develop and refine predictive analytics, optimization models, scenario analyses, and scalable analytical or data products that improve efficiency and scalability across operational workflows.
  • Assist in designing and piloting AI-enabled solutions, leveraging advanced analytics, predictive modeling, automation, and Generative AI to improve data-driven decision-making and execution.
  • Lead or support operational excellence and continuous-improvement projects using Lean, systems-thinking, value-stream mapping, DMAIC, root-cause analysis, workshops, and kaizens to address bottlenecks, variability, and inefficiencies.
  • Define and measure project impact using operational and financial KPIs such as cost savings, lead-time reduction, quality, service levels, productivity, process standardization, and other relevant performance measures.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, FEVA, MSAT, Digital, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, synthesize insights, and support transformation initiatives.
  • Track initiative milestones, risks, and dependencies, and support change management and deployment of new tools, processes, and ways of working.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and project documentation; communicate findings and recommendations to key stakeholders and work with technical and functional experts to quickly learn new technologies and techniques.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Basic Qualifications)

  • Current student enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to structure ambiguous operational problems.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel or comparable data analysis tools for managing and interpreting data.
  • At Moderna, we are focused on delivering on our mission by enabling talent to thrive. For this role, we are currently unable to offer immigration sponsorship. Candidates must already hold work authorization in US and be able to maintain that status without the need for future sponsorship.

  • GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge or experience in Lean Six Sigma, process improvement, DMAIC problem solving, value-stream mapping, root-cause analysis, or supply chain optimization.
  • Ability to gather and combine data from different sources, identify meaningful patterns, and translate insights into decisions and recommendations.
  • Experience with one or more data, analytics, or visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau), with exposure to predictive analytics, optimization, workflow automation, or AI/Generative AI particularly valuable for analytics-focused assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively to high-performing, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex analyses clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Curiosity and adaptability, with the ability to come up to speed quickly on new technologies, techniques, and business processes.
  • A desire to make an impact as part of a high-growth, transformational company that is Bold, Relentless, Curious, and Collaborative.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
