Senior Software Engineer Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital logistics, warehousing, technology, procure-to-pay and accounts payable.   With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social and governance best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Oakville, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution centre in Oakville. Learn more: www.mohawkmedbuy.ca. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Software Engineer to support our IT Applications Development team. This role can be located out of our Toronto, Burlington, or London offices.   Position Overview The Senior Software Engineer designs, implements and supports “in-house” corporate web applications linked to Microsoft Business Central, specifically our main ERP and P2P (Procure-to-Pay) solution that supports core organizational functions and ensure their high availability. The Senior Software Engineer also provides support to the other Solution Developers with the architecting, coding and testing of software solutions.    Key Responsibilities   Strategy & Planning 

Participate in the design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate web applications and software 

Develop and implement application standards that are aligned with organizational goals and objectives 

Contribute to the continuous improvement of development standards, coding practices, and team knowledge-sharing initiatives 

Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications 

Work with the planned phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for a variety of projects 

Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of web application development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility 

Mentor junior developers through code reviews, technical discussions, and best practice recommendations to support skill development and solution quality 

Participate with Senior Management in shaping the organization's technology vision and developing strategic plans that guide technological innovation and growth. 

Draw on existing operations management experience to propose, design and implement business technology solutions aimed at delivery real-time business information to decision makers, improving operational efficiencies and increasing competitive advantage. 

Envision and deliver technology solutions to increase the value add with existing customer base and establish technology support for new product offerings. 

Critically evaluate current and new technology opportunities in support of the organizations strategic plan with the Directors, Subject Matter Experts and other Team members 

  Acquisition & Development 

Where applicable, design, develop, & implement software and functionality for corporate systems 

Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades 

  Operational Management 

Design and develop web-based software programs, reports and applications according to specifications  

Identify and correct bugs and design errors 

Identify and implement optimizations to code and processes to improve performance and resource intensive activities 

Write complex data queries or applications to extract and/or manipulate large data sets 

Generate statistics and prepare and write reports for management and/or team members.  

Liaise with team to assist in resolving problems with software and corporate systems. 

When required, field incoming requests to the Service Desk via both telephone and e-mail to ensure courteous, timely and effective resolution of end user issues 

Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to team members on development practices, tools, and application architecture 

Act as a technical resource for peers by providing guidance on complex design, troubleshooting, and development challenges

    Qualifications and Skills   Skills and Competencies  

Excellent understanding of best practices for coding methodologies  Skill in the design, use and maintenance of relational databases, custom data models  Proven ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, influence solution design decisions, and contribute to a high-performing development team.  Ability to collaborate and support other peer developers  Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making abilities  Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment 

  Education, Training, and Experience   Mandatory  

University Degree in Programming, Computer Science and/or Database Development/Administration 

Proven experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying full-stack applications end-to-end 

Proven experience working in Microsoft Dynamics Nav and Business Central environments. 

Expertise in a variety of programming languages, including Microsoft Dynamics NAV C/SIDE & C/AL, ASP.NET, C#, Visual Basic 

Proven experience contributing to or owning test plans, test coverage, and quality practices 

Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices 

Skill in the design, use and maintenance of relational databases, custom data models 

Working knowledge in HTML, XML, CSS, SQL, PL/SQL, C/AL, CSIDE along with a multitude of languages as required depending on Hospital or Medbuy system 

Understanding of AL development for Microsoft Business Central 

Understanding of data models, UML, XML, context diagrams, data flow diagrams, and database design 

Solid knowledge of Agile development and project management methodologies

  Preferred  

Understanding of ERP modules such as Finance, AP, AR, Logistics etc.  

  Travel  

Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.

The targeted hiring range of this role is $95,000-$125,000 dependent on experience.
