The posting

Molecular Sound is looking for an experienced Head of Production to join our London team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract from 12 October 2026 to 1 September 2027.

We’re a specialist music and sound company working across sonic branding, original music and composition, broadcast, sport and sound design. Our work is created for some of the world’s biggest brands, including Sky, Disney, Premier League and Guinness, as well as leading branding agencies, broadcasters and advertising agencies.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can take ownership of production across the business, manage key client relationships and help keep a busy creative studio running smoothly.

The role

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing incoming briefs and client enquiries
  • Quoting, budgeting and overseeing project finances
  • Scheduling our in-house composer team and freelance creatives
  • Managing production timelines, priorities and deadlines across multiple projects
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for clients throughout projects
  • Organising recording sessions, studios, musicians and suppliers
  • Managing feedback, amends and final deliverables
  • Advising on music licensing, usage and rights
  • Managing suppliers and our wider freelance creative network
  • Overseeing purchase orders, invoicing and project profitability
  • Supporting new business opportunities and pitches
  • Managing and supporting our three-person composer team
  • Leading internal resourcing and production meetings
  • Taking ownership of key accounts and major projects
  • Keeping senior leadership informed on pipeline, resourcing, commercial performance and potential risks

You’ll report directly to Dave Connolly, Director, work closely with him on major projects and pitches, and form part of the company’s senior leadership team.

About you

We’re looking for someone with 5+ years’ experience in a senior production role, such as Senior Producer, Executive Producer or Head of Production.

Ideally, you’ll have experience within sonic branding, music production, composition, sound design or audio post. However, we’re also open to candidates from broader advertising or creative production backgrounds who have strong music knowledge and relevant client experience.

You should be:

  • Experienced working with brands, agencies and creative teams
  • Confident managing significant budgets and commercial conversations
  • Knowledgeable about music licensing, usage and rights
  • Familiar with production music, publishing and PRS
  • An excellent client communicator
  • Calm under pressure and comfortable making decisions
  • Extremely organised and capable of managing multiple live projects at once
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Commercially minded, with an eye for opportunities
  • A strong people manager
  • Diplomatic when navigating feedback or challenging conversations
  • Collaborative and comfortable working within a small, hands-on team
  • Interested in music, creativity and culture
  • Comfortable using Streamtime or similar project management software
  • Ideally connected to a network of composers, musicians, studios and freelance creatives

Technical audio engineering knowledge is not essential.

What success looks like

During the maternity cover period, we’d expect you to:

  • Keep production running smoothly across the business
  • Maintain and strengthen our client relationships
  • Protect project margins and keep budgets under control
  • Help convert new business opportunities
  • Improve production systems and processes where useful
  • Support and develop our composer team
  • Strengthen our freelance creative network
  • Maintain clear visibility across pipeline, resourcing and risk
  • Take confident ownership of important clients and projects

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
