The posting

Ready to take the next step in your Risk Management career?

Do you have a natural flair for numbers and strong analytical skills? Are you ready to develop your commercial understanding of the dynamic fuel and shipping industry that facilitates global trade? As an in-house Risk Management Analyst, you will help our customers mitigate risks and navigate uncertainty and volatility. Strong relationships and stakeholder management will be central to how you create that value.

Job description

Monjasa is a leading global partner in the oil and shipping industry who believes strongly in driving Personal Business. We aim to inspire our business partners and become first choice by challenging status quo with our original solutions. We are on the lookout to expand the Risk Management team for a colleague who can identify with Monjasa’s values and can build strong relations both internally and externally.

In this role, you will work closely with Trading to propose fixed forward prices for physical bunker sales. You will define the hedging requirements and coordinate with our Derivatives team to manage the associated risk. The Derivatives team executes the paper hedges.

You will be based at our office in Fredericia and report directly to the Group Treasury and Risk Management Senior Manager. During onboarding, you will spend time with your team at our Hellerup office to build your functional knowledge and relationships. For approximately two months, you can expect three travel days to Hellerup per week.

Your role will develop quickly: you will first learn about our business activities and products, the mechanics of risk management, and pricing and hedging on live deals. As you build this foundation, you will progress towards more independent responsibility for quoting, hedge coordination and post-trade follow-up.

What you will be doing

  • Act as the go-to person for traders on fixed vs. floating pricing requests, with fast and accurate turnaround
  • Work side by side with other Risk Management colleagues to provide Trading with fixed forward prices
  • Identify and mitigate risks inherent with Fixed forward prices
  • Define the hedging requirements for each deal, including the index, volume and tenor, and coordinate with the Derivatives team, which executes the paper trades
  • Monitor basis risk—the risk arising from differences between physical pricing and the paper index—and flag when hedges no longer match the physical position
  • Follow physical liftings, delivery shifts and volume changes, and propose the resulting hedge adjustments or unwinds
  • Track PnL against realized outcome, and give feedback on pricing accuracy after delivery
  • Analyze forward curves, spreads and volatility to provide insights with Global Trading teams
  • Build and maintain pricing and risk tools in Excel and dashboards, and contribute to ad-hoc projects on pricing policy and process improvement

What we are looking for

Professional skills

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline
  • Understanding of the commodity or energy markets with a few years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of swaps, futures and forward curves in relation to physical pricing, together with experience in a bank or financial institution focused on paper trading, is an advantage
  • High proficiency in Excel and AI tools
  • Fluency in both written and verbal English

Personal skills - We are looking for someone who can:

  • Organize your work, check the details and stay focused when deadlines are tight.
  • Ask questions, explore unfamiliar topics and put what you learn into practice
  • Use data and facts to question assumptions and challenge decisions
  • Take ownership and communicate complex risk clearly and with confidence to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Build strong working relationships across functions, collaborating with internal stakeholders in commercial and back-office teams as well as external customers

What we offer

At Monjasa, Personal Business is about the relationships we build together. You will join an international working environment where respect, ambition, curiosity and smile & joy shape everyday life. With hands-on learning, mentoring, relevant courses and regular development conversations, you will have opportunities to grow both professionally and personally. At our Fredericia office, shared lunches, fitness facilities and social events create space to connect beyond daily tasks. You can expect a working life centered on learning, strong relationships and a sense of belonging. That’s how we see life at Monjasa - but we would love for you to experience it yourself.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
