The posting

Overview

The Firm

Montagu Evans is a UK property consultancy that helps clients unlock value from complexity, because that’s where the most meaningful opportunities live.

Our purpose is to bring clarity, creativity, and conviction to the complex. We are experts who collaborate to create value, not just preserve it and our team is built for impact, not oversight.

We specialise in high-value, complex assets across the property lifecycle, where political, technical or commercial challenges demand a joined-up approach.

Responsibilities

The Role

We're looking for an experienced communications professional to help shape how Montagu Evans communicates with our people, clients and wider market.

You'll be an excellent writer and editor, able to turn complex subjects into clear, engaging communications and adapt messages for different audiences and channels.

You'll understand our business and strategic priorities, using that context to help us tell a consistent and purposeful story internally and externally.

You'll build strong relationships across the business, providing practical communications advice on the right message, approach, channel and timing, while helping develop internal communications that remain relevant and engaging.

What You'll Do

Internal communications

  • Own the editorial planning and day-to-day delivery of our regular internal newsletter.
  • Proactively source and shape relevant stories from across the business, creating a balanced and engaging mix of content
  • Continually improve internal communications based on business needs, colleague feedback and available engagement data.
  • Develop internal communications for business priorities, strategic initiatives, people updates, campaigns and firmwide activity.
  • Manage a forward-looking internal communications plan, coordinating activity across key business priorities and channels.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify the most effective format, timing and channel for each communication.
  • Develop the format, content mix and production of our internal newsletter, using feedback and available engagement data to keep it useful and relevant.
  • External communications & content
  • Write and edit clear, engaging content for our website, LinkedIn, client communications, campaigns, thought leadership and other external channels.
  • Work with fee earners and subject-matter experts to turn technical or complex ideas into accessible, client-focused communications.
  • Take externally developed material and translate it into relevant internal communications, helping colleagues understand why it matters.
  • Equally, identify internal stories, activity and insight with external potential and adapt them appropriately for clients and the market.
  • Adapt and reuse strong content appropriately across different channels and audiences.
  • Support thought leadership and campaign activity, working with Marketing, PR, Design and BD colleagues to develop strong, connected communications.
  • Identify opportunities to build external content around the firm's expertise, market insight, projects and strategic priorities.

Messaging, Brand & Tone of Voice

  • Support the consistent application of the Montagu Evans tone of voice, ensuring communications are clear, confident, impactful and collaborative.
  • Apply our messaging and editorial frameworks consistently while recognising that different audiences and channels require different treatments.
  • Edit and proofread communications, providing constructive guidance that helps colleagues apply our messaging and tone of voice consistently.
  • Help colleagues become more confident communicators through templates, examples and practical advice.
  • Ensure messages support our wider firm strategy and agreed market positioning.

Planning, Prioritisation & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage a varied communications workload across multiple stakeholders, projects and deadlines.
  • Understand the wider business and strategic context behind communications requests and reflect this in the recommended approach.
  • Assess communications requirements and recommend how activity can be prioritised, coordinated and delivered most effectively.
  • Set clear expectations with stakeholders and manage delivery against agreed deadlines.
  • Spot gaps, clashes and opportunities across the communications calendar.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Design, PR, BD and other teams to keep communications coordinated.
  • Respond confidently and pragmatically as business priorities and communications needs evolve.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience in a B2B communications, marketing communications or corporate communications environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills across different formats and audiences.
  • Strong understanding of internal and external communications and how the two work together.
  • Demonstrable experience adapting one story or message for different audiences, channels and purposes.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and subject-matter experts.
  • Strong understanding of brand, messaging and tone-of-voice principles, with the ability to apply them confidently across different audiences and formats.
  • Excellent project and workload management skills with demonstrable experience managing concurrent priorities and deadlines.
  • Sound editorial judgement and the confidence to provide clear, constructive communications advice.
  • Able to translate complicated or technical material into clear, useful communications.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to ask thoughtful questions, shape briefs and offer clear recommendations.
  • Comfortable working at pace and responding pragmatically as business priorities change.

Desirable

  • Professional services, property, built environment or another complex B2B sector.
  • Experience managing an employee newsletter, intranet or other internal communications channels.
  • Familiarity with social and digital publishing.
  • Experience working with PR agencies or media teams.
  • Understanding of content performance/communications analytics and using insight to improve future activity.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
