Moog is seeking an Inside Applications Engineer to join their team in Cleveland / Richmond Heights, OH!
This full-time onsite position reports to the Applications Engineering Manager and is part of Moog’s Space & Defense – Power & Data Group. This operating group specializes in developing rugged fiber optic solutions, including cable assemblies and harnesses, that provide dependable performance in harsh aerospace, military, and industrial environments where reliability is critical.
The Inside Applications Engineer (IAE) supports the pre- and post-sales design of Moog’s transceivers and cabling into our customers’ products. The individual in this role serves as a liaison between Moog and its customers focusing on customer relationships, engineering, and operations where integration or advanced support is required. The individual in this role works independently and collectively with the Inside Sales, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams, using sound judgment and discretion when addressing and resolving customer needs.
To be considered for our Inside Applications Engineer role, here’s what you’ll typically need to bring with you:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or communications and technical sales required.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
- Highly customer-oriented and the ability to build relationships while working across diverse groups and functional areas in a collaborative manner.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, etc.) and the use of other standard office tools.
It would be great if you also had:
- Experience in electrical and optical parameters of optical transceivers, optical networking, transmission protocols, and networking is preferred.
- Experience in a business and manufacturing setting preferred.
- Experience using common engineering tools and applications (CAD, SolidWorks, etc.) is a plus
As our Inside Applications Engineer, you will:
- Provides daily customer support via phone, email, and in-person visits, to address and resolve customers’ technical questions related to our products.
- Meets with Sales and customers to understand the customer’s needs, requirements and issues, provide technical expertise and to support pre- and post-sales.
- Documents and produces reports containing customers' information and requirements (e.g., contacts, projects, status, etc.) to keep the sales team informed of customer needs.
- Facilitates translating ideas into drawings, BOMs, and other customer-facing materials.
- Assists with PCNs, RMAs, and web support documentation.
- Assists in occasional manufacturing of small parts for customers as needed.
- Assists in creation and maintenance of data sheets, MRD, and project plans.
- Generates, in coordination with the Sales, Product Management, and Engineering team, program/project overviews based on customer’s needs, requirements and other factors to support the sales team and provide the best possible technical solution for the customer.
- Provides reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) detailing customer interactions, programs, projects, and status of customer orders/support.
- Demonstrates the ability to achieve work-related deadlines independently and consistently.

Salary Range Transparency:
Cleveland, OH $65,000.00–$90,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
