COMPANY OVERVIEW

Moss is a national privately held construction firm providing innovative solutions resulting in award-winning projects. With regional offices across the United States, Moss focuses on construction management at-risk, design-build, and public-private partnerships. The company's diverse portfolio encompasses a wide range of sectors, including luxury high-rise residential, landmark mixed-use developments, hospitality, primary and higher education, justice, and solar energy. Moss prides itself on a strong entrepreneurial culture that honors safety, quality, client engagement, and employee development. Its employees consistently rank Moss as one of the best places to work.

POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

The Senior Specialist, Events & Community Relations serves as the primary events, promotional, and community-facing resource for Moss's Dallas market. This role owns the full lifecycle of Dallas-based corporate events and external activations, leads the sourcing and management of branded promotional programming, and interfaces closely with local Moss Foundation representatives to plan, coordinate, and execute community-focused endeavors while sourcing and developing mission-aligned philanthropic opportunities. Operating as Moss's on-the-ground ambassador in Texas, this individual functions with a high degree of independence and is expected to make sound decisions, manage vendor relationships, and represent the Moss brand with professionalism and strategic intent.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Events Management

• Own the full lifecycle of Dallas-market corporate events — including internal office activations, employee recognition events, jobsite events, client-facing receptions, leadership forums, and community-sponsored events — from strategic planning and budget development through on-site execution and post-event financial reconciliation.

• Develop and maintain detailed, long-range event planning timelines that begin well in advance of event dates, incorporating key milestones, vendor deadlines, stakeholder approval checkpoints, and contingency planning to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.

• Build and manage event budgets using historical data and forward-looking projections; track all expenditures in real time and reconcile final costs post-event with full budget transparency to the Events Director and Dallas office leadership.

• Serve as the primary vendor relationship manager for Dallas events — issuing RFPs, evaluating proposals, and negotiating hotel, venue, AV, catering, and rental contracts to secure favorable terms, while managing attrition risk and vendor compliance throughout each engagement.

• Apply a proactive, risk-aware approach to event planning — identifying potential failure points early in the planning cycle and building documented response plans before issues arise, including weather contingencies, vendor reliability, and logistical dependencies.

• Produce post-event recaps and reporting that capture attendance, budget performance, stakeholder feedback, and lessons learned, delivering insights to the Events Director and Dallas leadership to inform year-over-year planning.

• Ensure all events — from intimate office luncheons to large-scale external activations — reflect Moss brand standards in visual presentation, guest experience, and professional execution.

Community Relations

• Serve as Moss's primary community liaison in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, building and sustaining meaningful relationships with local philanthropic organizations, civic groups, construction industry associations, and community partners on behalf of the company.

• Support Moss's participation and membership in Dallas-area industry organizations — including TEXO (Dallas-Fort Worth Construction Association), AGC Texas Building Branch, and other relevant trade and civic bodies — coordinating event attendance, sponsorships, and leadership engagement.

• Identify, evaluate, and recommend community partnership opportunities, sponsorships, and charitable initiatives that align with Moss's values and strategic priorities; present recommendations to the Events Director and Dallas office leadership for approval.

• Coordinate and support Moss-sponsored community events, volunteer days, and charitable activations — managing logistics, representing the company on-site, and ensuring a professional, on-brand presence.

• Maintain a community relations calendar and partnership tracker that gives the Events Director and Dallas leadership clear visibility into active commitments, upcoming engagements, and strategic opportunities. Develop and manage a tracking tool that showcases community engagement hours for Dallas team members.

Promotional Sourcing and Branded Merchandise

• Own the sourcing, procurement, and inventory management of branded promotional merchandise and event materials for the Dallas market, ensuring all items meet Moss brand standards and are delivered on time and within budget.

• Manage vendor relationships with promotional suppliers — evaluating quality, pricing, and lead times; negotiating favorable terms; and maintaining an approved vendor roster for consistent, brand-compliant fulfillment.

• Ensure promotional selections align with current brand guidelines, campaign priorities, and audience needs across events and community activations.

• Maintain an accurate inventory and distribution log for all branded materials — tracking usage by event, remaining quantities, and reorder thresholds — to prevent gaps and avoid over-purchasing.

Cross-Functional Coordination and Planning Infrastructure

• Act as the cross-functional point of contact for Dallas office leadership, communications, and marketing teams on all event, community, and promotional programming — aligning stakeholders on timelines, deliverables, and expectations proactively.

• Leverage and contribute to departmental planning tools — including SharePoint, ClickUp and Microsoft Office — maintaining accurate, real-time project tracking that gives the Events Director full remote visibility into Dallas market activity.

• Participate in team-wide planning and reporting cadences, contributing Dallas market updates, budget status, and pipeline visibility to the Events Director and the broader marketing and communications team.

• Support the marketing and communications team with ad hoc projects and regional initiatives as they arise, modeling collaborative engagement across the team's geographic footprint.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in corporate event planning, community relations, marketing operations, or a related function.

• Demonstrated experience independently managing a diverse portfolio of corporate events — from internal employee experiences to external client-facing activations — across varying size, format, and complexity.

• Proven ability to develop and manage event budgets from initial forecasting through final reconciliation, with a strong track record of cost control, vendor negotiation, and real-time budget tracking.

• Established experience in community relations, external partnership management, or corporate affairs — including engagement with industry associations, civic organizations, or community sponsorships.

• Strong proactive planning discipline: demonstrated ability to build detailed, long-range planning timelines, anticipate risk, and mitigate challenges before they become event-day obstacles.

• High organizational proficiency with a proven system for data management and project tracking, including hands-on experience with Smartsheet, SharePoint, Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), or equivalent tools.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders, external partners, and community leaders on behalf of the company.

• Experience sourcing and managing branded promotional merchandise — including vendor relationships, budget management, quality oversight, and inventory tracking.

• A self-directed, entrepreneurial work style with the ability to operate effectively under limited day-to-day oversight, make sound independent decisions, and escalate appropriately when needed.

• Contagious, positive energy with a strong sense of care for people, community, and the Moss brand — someone who naturally builds relationships and elevates the environment around them.

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, hospitality, public relations, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

• Must have reliable transportation for travel to hotels, venues, jobsites, community events, and off-site activations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
