Why this role exists
We are hiring an AI Engineering Intern to help build the software that runs an AI-native venture firm. You will work directly with our in-house AI Engineer and ship tools the MV team uses every day.
In venture, every founder call, email and data point is a signal. Most firms let those signals go to waste. We already run agents and automations across our investing and portfolio workflows; this role exists to help us build faster, go deeper and make what we have more reliable.
This is an engineering role, not a sourcing or deal role. That said, you will sit close to the team and learn how early-stage venture actually works.
What you'll do
You will design, build and ship agents and automations across the full venture lifecycle, from first contact with a startup to reporting to our investors.
- Build agents and automations for our core workflows: deal sourcing and screening, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, LP reporting and fundraising, and firm operations.
- Connect our systems (CRM, email, documents, data rooms, spreadsheets, market-data providers) through APIs, MCP and workflow platforms so they work as one stack.
- Turn unstructured information into intelligence: build data pipelines that capture, enrich and structure information on startups, funding rounds and the wider maritime ecosystem.
- Make build-vs-buy calls: evaluate existing tools, prototype quickly, and recommend what to adopt and what to build.
- Make it reliable: add evaluations, monitoring and documentation so the team can trust what you ship.
- Work alongside investors: sit with the team, map how they actually work, and find where automation creates the most leverage.
Who we're looking for
We care more about what you have built than where you studied. Show us things you have shipped; personal projects count as much as professional ones.
- A track record of shipping. Apps, automations, AI tools, open-source repos or a side project people actually use. Links to GitHub, demos or write-ups beat a long CV.
- Strong development fundamentals. Comfortable in Python and/or TypeScript, working with REST APIs, handling data, and using Git.
- Hands-on with LLMs and agents. Experience with LLM APIs, tool use, MCP, agent frameworks, guardrails, evals and an instinct for where they break.
- Practical about tools. Experience with workflow and low-code platforms (e.g. n8n, Zapier, Make) and the judgement to know when they beat custom code.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. Give you a problem, not a spec, and you will figure out the rest.
- Intellectually honest. You know what is possible, what works and what is simplest, and you are not afraid to say when something will not work.
Bonus points
You will build tools for investors, so understanding how they think makes you faster and your tools better. None of these are required, but they will stand out.
- VC or fintech experience. Time at a venture fund, private equity firm, fintech, bank or asset manager, including internships.
- A finance or economics background. A degree or coursework in finance, economics or a quantitative field. Familiarity with cap tables, fund metrics (IRR, TVPI, DPI), financial statements or valuation is a plus.
- Experience in maritime space. Time at maritime, logistics, supply chains or the energy transition.
What you'll get
- Real ownership. Your work goes into production and is used by investors from your first weeks, not left in a sandbox.
- Direct mentorship. Work one-to-one with our AI Engineer, with regular exposure to our partners and investment team.
- A front-row seat in venture. See how an early-stage fund sources, evaluates and supports startups, and how it reports to its investors.
- Frontier tooling. Hands-on access to the latest AI models and developer tools.
- A strong and wide maritime network. Exposure to one of the most connected ecosystems in maritime innovation.
Logistics
- Full-time, on-site in Singapore
- No VISA sponsorship provided
- Minimum commitment of 4 months full time (part time commitment of at least 3 days a week)
- Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
