Position Overview:

Mott Haven Academy Charter School is seeking an Academic Interventionist to provide targeted academic support to students across grade levels. The Academic Interventionist will work closely with teachers and school leadership to identify student needs, deliver evidence-based interventions, monitor student progress, and strengthen instructional practices. The role will also include some direct service to English for Speakers of Other Languages (ENL) students, supporting their English language development and access to grade-level academic content.

This position may be structured as either full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate's experience, availability, and the needs of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Intervention and Student Support:

  • Provide targeted, small-group and individual academic interventions based on student performance, assessment data, and identified learning needs.
  • Support students in developing foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and other academic areas as needed.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with grade-level curriculum, instructional priorities, and student learning goals.
  • Use assessment data and ongoing progress monitoring to evaluate student growth and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, intervention strategies, and outcomes.

ENL Student Services:

  • Provide direct instructional support to ENL students to strengthen English language proficiency, academic vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and oral language development.
  • Support multilingual learners in accessing grade-level content through targeted language instruction and scaffolding.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align language development goals with academic instruction.
  • Help identify and implement strategies that support multilingual learners across content areas.

Collaboration and Instructional Support:

  • Partner with teachers, ENL staff, and school leadership to identify students requiring additional academic support and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Share student progress, instructional recommendations, and effective intervention strategies with relevant staff.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, data-driven approach to improving student achievement.
  • Participate in meetings and professional development as appropriate to the position's schedule and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in special education or TESOL preferred.
  • Bilingual/ Spanish speakers strongly encouraged to apply
  • Experience providing academic intervention, tutoring, or differentiated instruction to students in an elementary or middle school setting.
  • Experience working with multilingual learners and/or ENL students preferred.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based literacy and mathematics intervention strategies.
  • Ability to analyze student data and use it to inform instructional decisions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to supporting students with diverse academic, linguistic, and social-emotional needs.
