As Behavioral Health Supervisor, walk-in team, you will provide clinical and administrative leadership to a team of therapists, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and evidence-based practice. This unique role combines direct patient care with supervision, mentorship, workforce development, quality improvement, and operational leadership. Working closely with the Behavioral Health Manager, physicians, residency leadership, and interdisciplinary partners, you will help shape the future of integrated behavioral health services while maintaining an active clinical presence and supporting MAHEC's mission of patient care, education, and community health.

In addition to service-line supervision responsibilities, this role provides outpatient behavioral health services through a combination of scheduled therapy appointments and same-day walk-in behavioral health support. To support patient access, this position is expected to include limited evening coverage, anticipated to be no later than 7:00 PM one day per week, subject to final operational approval. Our anticipated start date for this hire will be late January - Early February 2027.

This role plays a vital part in sustaining a culture of collaboration, accountability, and whole-person care. The Supervisor will be responsible for a team of approximately 10-15 therapists across multiple locations and teams, including Outpatient Behavioral Health providers, integrated Behavioral Health providers, Collaborative Care Managers, NC Pal Consultant, and potential future Behavioral Health staff.

  • Provide real-time consultation and crisis support to team members managing urgent or complex clinical situations.
  • Maintain a reduced caseload, modeling clinical excellence and maintaining active familiarity with MAHEC’s clinical systems.

Sustainability: Workflow, Integration, and Operational Stability:

  • Coordinate therapist schedules to ensure coverage, balanced caseloads, and responsiveness to patient needs.
  • Communicate regularly with the Behavioral Health Manager and other department leadership to surface barriers, identify staffing needs, and recommend solutions that promote long-term sustainability.
  • Support workforce stability through relationship-building, clear communication, and recognition of team achievements.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, ethical standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in recruitment and hiring processes, including interview participation and team onboarding as needed.

Clinical Responsibilities (0.5 FTE):

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy to clients using clinical models and modalities approved by the agency and the service definition for children and adolescents who are being referred to mental health and substance abuse services.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, develop treatment plans based on evidence-informed practices, incorporate internal and external collateral information (i.e. CCAs, Psychological Testing, Medical Evaluations, etc.) into case conceptualization and treatment planning, complete prior authorizations, and maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic health record.
